It's not so much insomnia that I go through every once in a while, but more like a sleepless night due to constant activity and work being done or halfway there. Like tonight (today) I have been working on a project and am just now getting ready for bed.

I do not know much about insomnia except the fact of someone just cannot sleep, but I don't know if it is insomnia if their reason for staying awake is because they are preoccupied or just can't lie in bed and sleep without doing a thing. Does anyone know the difference? If they both are considered insomnia? Maybe just not being able to sleep without busying yourself?

I've had insomnia for years and occasionally still do. But when I got married, as all good wifes do, they stop you doing things which you never released where harming you.

Mrs W said it happened when I had eaten cheese in the evening. I thought she was kinding, but I have noticed she is right. If I eat cheese after 5 pm then I am wake all night. I also now do not drink coffee after 5pm.

Still occasionally get insomnia, but now it is unusual, when before it was a monthly experience for me.

So, no more cheese Gromit!

Not an insomniac but a sleep-shifter...

I sleep only about 7-9 hours in 24 but tend to switch from
a day schedule(normal!?) to a very late night turn in.

My circadian clock does not seem to run me nor seem to mind this.
It is as if I lived on a planet with a 32hour rotational period.

My habit is beneficial down here as the sun's UV rays
are very high(10+) from mid-Spring thru mid-Autumn.

Easy for me to say but perhaps difficult to implement;
don't fight your insomnia. You might be able to take your
needed daily sleep in two or even 3 bites.
i.e.(3-3-2), (4-2-2) &etc.

I don't have insomnia, I just find sleep to be boring. It's a good thing because I only need five hours a night. I'm usually up before 5:00 a.m. I don't mind the whole "lay in bed doing nothing" routine if I'm having some interesting dreams. Otherwise, I find it to be dreadful. [huh]
