I keep getting the impression that the Ark is going to make a comeback in the movie.

I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Regarding the boots, in the other shots I've seen, I believe that they at least lookedl ike the same boots as the familiar Aldens. In that shot, they're either a much lighter colour than we're used to seeing, or they're utterly, utterly shot. I guess it's a hard life being a college professor and professional adventurer, so finding the time to polish your boots isn't easy! lol

I'm sure I've read that the whole point with the Crystal Skull is going to be to try to harness the power of the Ark.... it could lead to some interesting plotlines. Obviously, there's the Cold War issue - I can see how the US military would want to get the upper hand over the Soviets - and vice versa. (Maybe they'll bring in a postmdern twist there and instead of the old-fashioned "Communism bad" / "four legs good...." line of things, they'll instead drop along a "he who fights monsters..." path). I'm hoping that the South American Inca hook will bring along with it some ex-Nazis as well. I mean, South America, the fifties? And Indy hates Nazis....

I think it's got a huge amount of potential. I just can't wait to see it...

maybe I was wrong...

Okay, I said baloney to the "alien" crystal skull, but now I'm not entirely sure. Consider: Movieweb has some set pics of what look to be like a sarcophagus, but the "faces" have pieces of paper over them. Secondly, the newest pic with Indy crouching down - there's a skeleton in the background that jus' don't look right; Close Encounters-y, I mean. Thirdly, the one sheet has a tiny little alien head on the bridge of the skull's nose. Fourthly, I've also just read the new Lego Indy game has him battling giant ants. So, while I'm still not 100% sold, red herrings and all....MMMM, I just don't know. By the by, has anyone else considered the kid's name is Mutt, and Indiana was named after the dog? Oh yeah, and there's another one sheet where the La Bouf (sp?) kid is featured more prominently holding a sword and a swithblade ( he's gonna duke it out with Miss Cate...).

Post Script: this is a hat forum - let it be known that there is a hat in all the stills. A cool hat with lots of dirt and webs and stuff on it. But so far, no aliens in hats. Okay, okay, okay...but how cool would that be?!

experiment...

Hello, my name is Kiltie, and I am NOT a gear head...
That said, I have been doing an experiment recently. In the past, I have religiously avoided wearing a fedora with my leather jackets ( always an ivy, newsboy, ballcap, whatever...), but rather stuck with my barn coat on cooler days. A couple of weeks ago, my barn coat was, uhhh, set on fire ( don't ask...). I was therefore fairly compelled to wear the dreaded fedora and leather jacket combo.
We all get "the comment": 'Nice hat, Indy' - or something similar - pretty much no matter what the hat ( fedora-wise ). Here's the funny thing though: I met up with some friends at a cowboy sorta joint with my Squatter ( vaguely Indy-esque in color, dimensions, etc...) and plain as plain dark brown leather jacket. You know what? Not one single itsy-bitsy Indy comment. I was surprisred, and by the end of the night a little diappointed in myself for having been the least bit concerned. 'Coupla days later, I go out to hear a band, wearing the same hat, but wearing an Armani shirt ( BCF, ya'll... thirty bones! ), bow tie, and a kinda safari jacket. No fewer than three "Hey, Indys
". ?!?!?!?!
So here's my experiment. I'm going to go back to the leather jacket, only next time with my Akubra Adventurer, then, over the course of days/weeks, add the proper shirt, pants, etc..., till finally I add the whip. Alternately, I will wear plaid pants, sport coats, etc... then compare Indy comments. People are fun to play with...:D

That would be classic, Kiltie.

I've had similar experiences, too. Brown Federation Deluxe with leather jacket has never equaled an Indi comment, BUT I have been called Indiana in summer - wearing shorts, polo shirt, and cowboy-ish Snowy River.

Odd, huh? [huh]
