Right, but MacGregor is the only one of the various authors involved that I recall specifically. He brings something to the series that the others don't.

Much appreciated. The local library doesn't have any of that series, but perhaps I'll run across them somewhere. Now that it's in my head I'll remember.

If they want to keep using ford as long as possible, there is the option of anime. Poo poo'ed y the 'real stunts only' crowd, I know, but a recent episode of Love, Death & Robots on Netflix had animation so close to reality I did have to check whether it was animation or actors on green screen. A series like that with Ford's voiced would be worth doing, imo. Either that or they're simply just going to have to bite the bullet and remake with another actor. Which isn't unthinkable in Hollywood terms, given it's over a decade since Crystal Skull. Whole new generation of cinema-goers. Makes more sense to my mind by this point than having to compromise the whole concept just to work around Ford's age.

Whenever my local library lacks a book, I turn to AbeBooks. I can usually find an inexpensive copy, though the MacGregor books must remain popular as the cheapest version of his first prequel, Peril at Delphi, is over six dollars!

New spider man, new iron man, etc etc. Yeah Gollywood has no problem re-booting stuff these days. I think the young fellow who played Hans Olo was spot-on, so they can probably find someone to play a younger or early middle age Indy.

It'd the way of the world.... though for my money the guy in Solo was dreadful - zero charisma, zero chemistry with the leading lady, zero acting ability; even the wookie blew him off the screen, and the Young Lando totally stole the entire picture. If internet rumour is to be believed, following the much-deserved critical drubbing it took (and in truth it deserved far worse than it got), he was released from his multi-film contract.

I didn't see the Solo film, so I can't comment on Ehrenreich's performance, but having just looked through the Wikipedia article and seen who else they considered casting, I must say that Irish actor Jack Reynor certainly looks like a young Harrison Ford. And he was born in 1992, so that makes it 1926 in Indy's world...

Certainly has that look about him. It's a real pity Liam Neeson isn't twenty-five years yougner and better at an Americanaccent, I'd love to see his Indy! Hecould make for a fantastic Indy villain, though...

I didn't hate Solo. It was certainly no worse than most things I have seen connected to Star Wars. If you are not a Star Wars geek and not really precious about how that world is presented, then Solo was a moderately diverting entertainment. I got through it to the end.

By contrast - I tried to get through Avengers: Infinity War last night and lasted around an hour. Banal CGI, contrived dialogue, juvenile plot. I also wish superhero films didn't all resort to the same God-awful, faux-triumphal musical score clichés.

Oh, brother. It seems that (maybe) Kasdan once explored an Indy 5 Nazi Gold Train plot. Not very original, given the way the Nazi Gold Train story was all over the press a few years back; including a thread in the Fedora Lounge, as I recall.

The basic idea is good - plus it can bring in a secret-covert-Nazi organisation as the bad guys - though I'm still wary of 'old Indy'.

That said.... I guess they could set it pre 1957 (the last decade has been kind to Ford) in the same was as Temple was set a year before Raiders....

If it's set in '57 then Indy is around 57. Ford looks good for a near to 80 year-old man, but he still looks like he's around 70 - I can't see film makers trying to dud this issue unless Ford becomes a CGI project in himself.
