...I hope the plot does not take a time travel twist. IMHO, that would cross the line into SciFi a little too much...
Right, 'cause the interdimensional beings with the transparent brain cages in the last movie didn't already kick that door down. :p

...Oh, and it looks like Phoebe will play the role of Marcus Brodie’s granddaughter. Harrison is looking pretty good in that Panama hat.
And, if the rumors prove to be true, she'll be taking the lead role in subsequent Indiana Jones movies. I personally prefer Chris Pratt simply because I think he'll be able to inhabit the role and capture the essence of Indy without directly impersonating Harrison Ford.

I'm not convinced we can so readily assume it's time travel until we get a shot of Indy amid the Romans.... To me, what this all hints at is rather a flashback telling the story of an artefact. Spear of Destiny? The Nazis wanted both the Ark and the Grail because they thought they would, respectively, make their armies unbeatable and their people immortal... The spear of destiny came from the Romans. Could be we'll see a flashback retelling of the life of Roman soldier Longinus, his piercing Christ's body on the cross, the spear through history. Perhaps Indy stopped the Nazis from getting hold of it back when, but now those Nazis he defeated are working in NASA via Operation Paperclip, and seeking to use NASA tech and the Spear to rebuild the Reich.... That easily hangs together with no time travel. The dots we've seen on Indy's face before suggest a de-aging as discussed previous for him in WW2 - not time travel - so there's every likelihood what we are seeing of these Romans - absent any sign of Indy among them as of yet - is just an expositional flashback.

If Waller-Bridge is Brody's granddaughter, I wonder will we see a Denholm Elliot stand-in playing Marcus in WW2 - or were his misadventures in the field in 1938 more than enough for him?

Indiana Jones and the Ministry of Silly Walks!

A bit of bad news. Not totally unexpected. The release of IJ5 has been delayed another year, until June 2023. Oh, well.

Not really surprised. My only real question would be whether this is due to delays in production caused by the pandemic, or strategic release timing given there are a whole glut of films at varying stages of production which have been disrupted by the pandemic, and they don't want everything coming out all at once.

Time travel?? (sigh) C'mon, just have Nazis as the bad guys. That never gets old and you have infinite story possibilities given how crazy their leadership was. Plus you can never shoot enough of them.

Nazis really are the perfect villain, aren't they? As long as we stay away from the conscripts, at least - those poor beggers I have a lot of sympathy for.

Any way this is packaged and sold, it will stink like someone beat a skunk to death with a salmon...

I have to wait another year to not watch this?

Dammit...
At this point Disney would be better off admitting they have no idea what to do with the Star Wars franchise, won't be able to continue the Indiana Jones franchise because Ford keeps injuring himself, and just mothball both of them until the time comes when they've been completely forgotten about by the general public. Then start over. They have to wait for George Lucas to kick the bucket anyway, so why not?

I just found out earlier today that Antonio Banderas is going to be in Indiana Jones V. Does everyone else already know this? Did I miss the memo? I like the guy, but...I don't know...given his "style" and the fact that the last thing I saw him in was The Expendables 3, I'm having some difficulty seeing him fitting into the Indiana Jones universe. But, I've been wrong before, so...

He could make an excellent player as either a villainous associate of Nazis on the run in South America, or one of the 'heroic local' types who could be Indy's ally against them. Or, of course, he could be a US citizen from that background which has given him a motivation to fight the Nazis. I see potential there. Given some of his former work - Desperado in particular - I think he could well prove a good choice.

Unfortunately, they've sunk too much money into the movie, and I wouldn't be surprised that Ford's constant injuries has led to the movie being rewritten to set Indy a little bit more towards the background. As much as Ford's fans don't want to admit it, Ford is getting old. He cannot do the work that he was once able to.
