Guilty (music) pleasure

At home it's a fight between the 3 boys current favorites and my Glenn Miller, Sinatra, etc. In my car it's Drum & Bugle Corps - usually from DCI World Competitions. Right now it's 2003 DCI World.

I was walking past the Burberry store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago on Tuesday and saw a large photo in its window of Bryan Ferry in a Single-Breasted Peak Lapel Tuxedo. Before long, I could not get 'Slave to Love" our of my head.

When I got back home on Friday, I loaded Ferry's "Boys and Girls" and "Taxi" onto the mp3 player.

Let's See...

I don't use my CD player in my car all that much because I use my XM Radio and iPod it quite a bit. Here is what I think if I remember is in the CD player.

1. Frank Sinatra Hits
2. Billie Holiday
3. The Donna's - Gold Medal
4. John Coltrane's Blue Trane
5. Mixed 90s Pop (I know, I know)
6. A mix that I put together

What I've been listening to on my iPod:

1. Bing Crosby
2. Paul Whiteman
3. Benny Goodman
4. Glenn Miller (shhh...)
5. Frank Sinatra
6. Beatles
7. Vladimir Horowitz
8. Buena Vista Social Club
9. Ruben Gonzalez
10. Peggy Lee
11. Charlie Barnet
12. John Coltrane
13. Lavay Smith
14. Gerry Mulligan

That's about it. :)

The Archers, on the radio. CD compilations of 30s and 40s music. Not into music that much. Or I should say, I'm into everybody elses music. Never developed my own collection.

{SNIP long list of excellent taste}
Agree about Lowe--I like the stuff he did with "Little Village" quite a lot. Your ipod list is great--I *love* Maria McKee, and the 1st Chris Issak album...

I'm sorry, Magneto

I hadn't noticed your question. The Nick Lowe CD is "BASHER The Best Of NICK LOWE" (that's the way it is written on the cover). It has 25 songs including six from Labour of Lust which is the LP I have.
It also has "I Knew the Bride (When She Used To Rock 'N' Roll) which I had by Dave Edmunds on cassette.

Sincerely,
The Wolf

Nyet problemi, Mr. The Wolf (Basher sounds newer than my comp, which is an import circa 1984. Lowe with Dave Edmunds is a beautiful thing: e.g. Rockpile, the song "Crackin' Up" (AKA my theme song), etc ;)

Disc now playing chez moi: Tim Buckley, "Live at the Troubadour 1969"

No need to call me Mr. The Wolf, Mr. Wolf is fine

Yes Edmunds and Lowe are a great pair. United by a similar love of music as we Loungers are united by a similar love of the Golden Age. Wow, I got semi-philosopical there.:p
BASHER is newer. It contains four songs from The Rose of England album from 1985.
Magneto, in reference to your theme song, you could never be "like a worn out shoe".

Sincerely,
The Wolf
