I can't tell you exactly what attracted me to this hat, which is not at all like virtually every other hat I have. Admittedly, I took a chance with it, so tell me what you think.
Also, if you've ever heard of this hatmaker, or know anything about the brand, let me know. I believe it's a "Lucien de Brubant et Frere," but you look at it and tell me, since I don't do French.
For my education, is this a telescoping or porkpie crown? It's got a 2" brim, 3 7/8" crown and 1" braided ribbon. The liner and plastic insert are very clean and the sweat only shows a little wear.
It was imported from France, originally sold in Flushing, NY.
Even though I wore it for the first time today with a little tentativeness, I've gotten several compliments on it. But it's hardly my standard high-crown, pinch-front, wide-brim fedora.
