I'm sending my jacket off to have some work done

My Taylor's CMPD is all packed up ready to ship out to Steve at Bedo's leatherworks tomorrow for some patchwork.
I've never done this kind of thing before and am a bit nervous because the jacket means a lot to me, but I know it'll be in good hands as long as it arrives safe and sound.
I had a couple of ideas that I gave some serious thought to but ended up settling on this.

On the right breast where the nametag hanger was I'm going to have a shield shaped leather patch ( maybe tobacco brown) ,with a dog bone and 3 paw prints
This is to represent my 3 pitty pups past and present, I've already personalized this jacket with things connected to my pitty pups and this is just another way to have them with me whenever I'm wearing the jacket

The 3" dog bone patch I ordered is white with a black outline, and the 12 pack of 5/8" paw prints I ordered are black with an orange outline.
I just hope the little 5/8" paw prints don't prove to be too small to sew.
I looked all over and couldn't find anything a little bit bigger.

If this turns out well I should have room to add additional paw prints throughout the years.

Bedo's is not a top choice for me. Have you looked around? There are several choices I would pick before sending it to that shop.

Is there any particular reason why ?
I watch his YouTube channel and from what I've seen he does good work.

are you comfortable with people calling you paw patrol?
Well I never thought of that, but after looking up the logo I think I'm safe.
No words, more than just 1 paw print, and different colors.
Another thought is an oval with the dog bone and 3 paw prints in a row underneath it, or just the dogbone on an oval.

There will be communication back & forth and a final plan will be settled on before any work is done.

Friend, personally, I do not consider his work top of the line. However, if you like what you see, who am I to deter you from him. Good luck with your project.
I have little experience with this kind of thing so I wouldn't really know I suppose.
I don't know anywhere else I'd send the jacket to so I contacted Steve.

Steve sent me this mockup today.
IMG_4660.jpg

It looks fine and I almost went with it, but told him I really wanted the patches first sewn to a patch of leather then to the jacket.

He said he will see what he has in the range of a tobacco or medium brown and check back with me.

My initial thought was the shield shape with the paw prints in this arrangement, but now I am thinking of an oval with the 3 paw prints in a straight row under the bone.

I think I like it better this way. Plus, it will be easier to add paw prints if they aren't on a patch.

And I like your pups. Too bad you don't have a picture of the first one.

You have a point there, but I still like the idea of a contrasting leather color behind them.

I was 12 when my first pup passed, so no smartphone cameras but I can probably get a picture of an old picturei have.

As a 12 y/o it hurts when you lose your dog, but, frankly, it doesn't get any easier as an adult, as you probably know.

Yes, please post a picture of your first dog.

It was definitely tough on me, she was born 2 months before I was and we were absolute best friends from the day I came home from the hospital.

I thought I had other pictures, but this is what I could find.

My first dog died when I about 22, I found out when I was in a little town in Ecuador. I cried like a baby.

My next one died suddenly at nice months, she jumped the fence and got knocked down while walking down the footpath. I carried her to the vet and she was put down while licking my hands.

My last dog, a lovely labradoodle, died aged ten years. Nobody knows why. He was great. I had hoped he would make some puppies one day and I could have one. I didn’t get to say goodbye to him.

My current pup is another labradoodle, she’s way less curly than my last. She’s great, friendly, smart, and loves children (but can’t eat a whole one).

Long story short, I can completely relate to your loss and find the idea really nice. IMG-20210826-WA0005.jpeg
