Hi everyone.

A few people have been asking how my move went, so I thought Id address the queries via a thread.

I moved from San Francisco on December 15th. We packed up the uHaul, and my brother and I drove the 300+ miles in a one day stint. Im sure it wasnt cause we were sharing the cab with an 80 pound dog and a paranoid cat :p

But we made it, and friends were there to help us unload the van and get it to the depot in record time.

We then took a moving brake and went to Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles (had a waffle and eggs).

It was an interesting experience moving here. I had so many people who are anxious to get me situated and so many who are looking out for me. Like yesterday, Miss Neecerie and I went all about the LA area from the fabric district to Whole Foods (dont ask) to the end of the earth just having fun and showing me around.

I am residing in Mid-Wilshire, and I am shocked by the amount of Korean BBQs there are around. lol

There have been a couple of culutre shocks;
Aside from the need for a car, the lack of trash cans on the main streets, or that my building does not recycle shocked me! lol

I guess Ill have to take my papers and bottles and the like somewhere.

Im unpacked and in the market for work, the reason I moved out here. This should be an experience, and I thank all my FL friends who have helped me out thus far.

Will keep y'all posted!

Mmmm, Korean barbecue !!!

I hope you enjoy LA. I've visited quite a few times and it took me a while to warm to it, but now I really like it. I imagine you already know it fairly well.

Wish I could help show you around, but I just moved to the Netherlands! I'll be back in May though!

I really hope you like LA. I was originally from the Bay Area myself and all through high school I thought I would hate it, but once I moved there I fell in love with the place. I'm really missing it right now!

Welcome to Los Angeles!!

I went to law school down the street from you. When you have a chance, you should check out the law library aka the Bullocks Wilshire building. In the past, the Art Deco Society of LA has held fashion shows there.

By the way, some of those Korean BBQ's are truly outstanding!! Better yet, though, you're near the original Tommy's hamburgers.

Again, welcome to Los Angeles. I look forward to seeing you around town. Maybe a welcome to LA party for Lady Day?

Glad to hear that you made it safely and are making the adjustment from Fogtown. It is a drag about having to have a car though, but everything is so spread out down there you can't live without one. Make sure to visit us beatniks and hippies sometimes!;)

I didn't know you were moving! I'm glad it went well.
That is now three Loungers that I met in the Bay Area that have moved to L.A. Is it my breath?
I wish you the best and say "Hi" to FedorAgent and Magneto when you see them.

Sincerely,
The Wolf

Welcome to LA! I'm glad your transition is going so smoothly so far. I moved from San Francisco to Orange County (I know, different from LA) a few years ago. I know what you mean about the culture shock (everyone wears flip flops in the winter/when it's raining!). Southern California has so much to offer, I'm sure you'll love it :)

Welcome Home!

Residing in one of those classic beautiful vintage apartments?
Looking forward to seeing you again (as at the QM) and seeing L.A. through your eyes. The Prince (interior location for "Chinatown" restaurant scene) & The Bounty are good eateries according to

Glad to hear that your move went well. I've lived in the same house for over 30 years, and would hate the thought of having to relocate.

I walk my dog by this campus often, its lovely! Im only a couple of blocks away!

Thanks all for the well wishes. I sorely need them. This place as a city isnt as loud as SF, but my neighbors seem to be making up that slack :eusa_doh:
The building manager is nice, and effective, so you cant beat that.

Ill keep you all posted on the job front as well.

Thanks,

LD
