You definitely have a natural talent for this. Can't wait to see your first Homburg.

BTW - where did you get your sweatband? The ones I bought have the leather sewn too high on the reed to turn it up. It was very disappointing to see such shoddy work - thinking I'll borrow my friend's sewing machine and re-do it.

It´s a beatiful hat and I love the ribbon, but it looks a bit too flashy and large to me. Anyone feels the same way?

Anyway, great job!

I thought that once the brim is cut the hat is flanged under a heavy bag of heated sand. How did you flange without that apparatus?

I don't know - he looks great in Homburgs, which most modern-day wearers can't pull off, so this might actually be the perfect look for him. Looking forward to seeing what outfit he dons for the unveiling pic.

wow......

Thanks for all the props fellas, very much appreciated.

The body came from Winchester I believe,(thanks Stoney).

The sweat was from a friend. ;)

As far as the flanging goes, with some great tips by TonyB and Bruce, I was able to iron it flat, trim it, and then I put it over the flange using the iron and some steam. When it was nice and dry, I then applied stiffener on the underside of the brim and inside the crown. [huh]

I really enjoyed making this hat, it was a great experience and I'm looking forward to making another possibly.

Interesting solution! thanks again for sharing the process. We look forward to seeing the Boltergeist Mark II.

Nice job Kurt!

Overall it looks great. Once you recenter that bow it will be cherry.

I knew you could make something special with that body. It's a 100% beaver fur body that was given to me when I visited Winchester last spring.
