For the members of this forum familiar with organized crime history, if you had to be a historical mobster would you be an irish mobster (mad dog coll, bugs moran, danny greene, ect) or a jewish mobster (meyer lansky, mickey cohen, moe dalitz, ect) or an italian mobster (lucky luciano, frank costello, joe bonanno, ect) a black mobster (bumpy johnson, nicky barnes, frank lucas, ect) or an english mobster (the krays, billy hill, Freddie Foreman, ect)? And which mobster would you be? and why?

If i was a historical mobster i would be a jewish one and i would be Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel, this guy had alot of weight in new york, los angeles, and las vegas and was one of the original founders of the national crime syndicate. Ive always liked the history of the jewish mobsters more than any other historical organized crime group. they were a first generation only group and i personally think they were smarter than most of thier mobster counter parts durin thier time.

I guess it's having to deal with jerks who yell "Gangster!" (Or Dick Tracy, Indiana Jones, Inspector Gadget, blah blah) when they see a guy in a hat that makes me kind of bristle at even thinking of being some historical thug.

I don't want to be a "mobster" or "gangster" thanks. ;)

SO, Pal. "Female" got you in hot water, and now "mobster." lol

I'd be any mobster who got rich without having anyone killed or injured, who avoided prison and deportation, and who died peacefully in his old age.

Am I dreaming or what? lol

Thats ok....I was busy looking mobsters up on ineffectualmobsters.com, in an attempt to find one just so bad at the whole thing....

What a loser!
I fall in line with the general trend of reactions on this thread.
But if I had to pick one shady character to be, I might choose good old reliable Nathan, Nathan, Nathan, Nathan Detroit! Yeah, Sam Levene. My kind of mustache guy.

I'm torn between the Italians for the food and the Brits for the accent.

And if I HAD to be a gun, I guess I'd opt for being a .50 cal machine gun. Hey, why mess around?
I find the term "gun" demeaning. I would be a "firearm."

Strange how the passing of time romanticises the criminal.

So in years to come, some folk might find it romantic to see themselves as Paul Pot/Khymer Rouge; IRA/UDA murderers; Saddam; Eichmann; Rwandan warlords; Serbian/Bosnian/Kosovan killers and extortioners; Mafioso hitmen; LA Gangsta;??? ..etc, etc.

How distasteful the gangsters of Prohibition Era America must have been to the average Joe Public, as they bombed local family businesses who failed to keep up with protection payments..etc, and indiscriminately killed both fellow criminals (which some may say was okay )but also 'innocent' bystanders in the wrong place. Very romantic and real heroes to put on pedestals, look up to & emulate...[huh]
