I would love to have a crosszip but... I just don't feel comfortable with that style all tricked out with studs, zippers, etc.
I need a crosszip that is low-key in comparison to the standard MC jacket.
yeah, this is how I start piling up jackets. Cross zip with the flare (epaulettes, stars on them, coin pocket), cross zip more basic (no epaulettes), one with brass hardware, one with silver, LOL. It does get manic.

I do agree though in general. I took the belt loops off my Branded Garment that was going to sell, and it just transformed into a different jacket now. Think I'm keeping it now : )

I feel the same way. The FL I am getting made-up is sans belt, epaulets and D pocket.

To many people, it will seem pretty similar to a CR, I know. But I just love the sleek lines and mandarin collar on the latter and want one of those as well.

If my house cought fire right now and i could only save three jackets it would be:

I'm not sure i would survive the broken heart i would get from seeing the rest of them burn to ashes...

Edit: just re read the Op and realized you are asking about styles, not specific jackets, personally, i am all in on the Cross zip, they are my favourite and i wear them 90% of the time.

And now run back into that burning house and replace ANY of these for the brown Himel Chevalier because seriously. And if you won't, I will and the jacket is mine, thank you very much.

1. Minimal black cross zip in CXL FQHH(front bootlegger back moto without gussets), no belts or epaulettes
2. J100, again FQHH
3. Schott Delivery style, similar to Aero's Original Hercules I guess but prefer Schott design in Horween Lux

OK, if we are going to play Today's Dream List:

1. Field Leathers minimalist cross zip in pigment Shinki chocolate brown (on order!)
2. Cafe Racer in a lighter brown (or maybe even in Blattwerks brown) - looking at @Jin431 's Route66 for inspo here
3. Thick CXL (brown or burgundy) slim, basic three pocket collared jacket or half belt. Something like @Jin431 's JL or an Aero highwayman/sheene design.

1. Highwayman, Cordovan, just the one I already got.
2. Letter jacket, black/cordovan, without letter.
3. U-Boot short coat.

I think if I had to choose three styles it would be difficult and there is some slop in crossover. Three hides is easier.
Extra heavy Steer/cow
Heavy or mid-weight Horse
Goat

*special consideration (exotic bonus 4th):
Deer
Kangaroo
Moose
Buffalo

I can tell you with absolute certainty that one leather jacket is enough.

You just have to find it first.

Nope... There can't be only one... there has to be many! :D

Going back to the OP's question, if we are talking styles, it has to be the cross-zip first, and then 70s style rock star jackets, and something longer like peacoats or car coat. Although to be fair, mainly cross zip (that incudes cross-buttons of course :))

I can't name style since all mine doesn't really belong in any named styles, but if I have to live with only 3 then I would choose
nat vegtan
grey
dark blue

nat vegtan leather jacket would be my project jacket, love to see the color goes tan, orange, brown, dark brown (basically this would be my future brown jacket)
will wear this with beige, or khaki or camo pants at first, then once it get some brown and more resistant to stain I can wear it with jeans and anything as long as it is not a heavy downpour outside. probably wear it with suede boots and become my dry weather jacket at its early-mid stage, I imagine after covid ends if I start to do morning walk again I will wear this more.

grey leather jacket would be my replacement for a black leather jacket, since. I can wear grey and look cooler than black leather with the same outfit I wear for a black jacket. I imagine if I wear black pants and black shirt, this would be my jacket for the day.

dark blue leather is my go to with jeans once the jeans started to fade, and all purpose jacket I can wear it with many non black pants options, since my colored pants are mostly jeans and earth tones, I can wear with all of them. I can wear tan, black, or brown shoes/boots with dark blue jacket.

This just seems a perfect jacket you can wear anywhere and wear all the time. It's in brown too so it will be more interesting to pair with outfits. This will look so good and so much better than the mishap with your previous order from that other maker.

That's so similar to what I might need to keep in my closet if we ever have to just stick to three leather jackets! thanks for the kind words @JustinW

Must haves list:

1 clean sleek cross zip in black/brown
2 slim fitting cafe racer
3 simple 3 pocket black jacket with collar

I would suggest the Aero Bootlegger as a good gateway to the world of cross zips. After that any basic two pocket CHP (Langlitz Columbia, Cal LAPD, Vanson CHP2) is the quintessential cross zip without all the adornment.
