If you could fill these seats with members of the Lounge...?

OK ...You have six empty seats in this room in 50's pre-revolution Havanna. You can choose FL members of either sex.

Who would you choose?
And for what qualities would you base your choice?

(The photo is taken from the movie, LOST CITY, about Havanna in the 50's on the run up to Cuba's revolution).

Isn't this a variation of the "who would you most like to meet?" thread? I think something like this is always a set up for picking favorites publicly which in turn makes others feel left out. Having said that, I'll be Captain first and pick members of my team............

I'd pick:

carebear for his fearless ability to debate intelligently and politely, but not too politely to make it boring....

LizzieMaine because she's a great gal from Maine...

scotrace because he loves Lincoln as much as I do and kept me from fleeing the FL...

Zohar, because he's always been very helpful behind the scenes and I know so little about him...

MK, because he created this great space...

LadyStardust so we can discuss Harrison Fisher...

BegintheBeguine for her great wit and sense of humor...

Oh wait, I picked more than five. See, I don't like these things, and I have so many more!

A tough one...

That's a tough one. And quite unfair.;)

I would invite the whole lounge, and the first 6 got in.
And then one could only hope that some of them left early, so some more could come in...I would not be able to choose between so many great members. Not fair!

Or - maybe I would suggest there was an agenda.
Like planes, flyboys and Battle of Britain...then it would only be guys like Smithy, Zemke Fan, Hondo, MikeyB17, Wingnut, Twitch, Story, Paddy and.... who were waiting in the line. And Miss Sis already inside. Not fair either [huh]

So maybe I should just go for six of the beautifull ladies we have here...:D

Or.....come to think about it: Since it was Cuba - before the revolution, I would say that the people who could get in should be:
- Revolutionary
- Cigarsmokers
- Samba or Salsadancers
- Rumdrinkers
Maybe that could bring it down to 100 - 150.

Me, plus five other people who love to dance :)

Let's see...as I recall, Marc Chevalier, Matt Deckard and Paddy are dancers, and so is Jitterbugdoll. Lizziemaine said once she'd like to dance, but there weren't any classes near her. I'd invite her, too.

It would be interesting to see how we all got along. :)

For that room I need ice, rum, mint leaves, simple syrup, a cocktail shaker, cigars, at least one lighter, six glasses and a cigar clip. I have the clip and the lighter, so it is first come first seat to the people who show up with the remaining necessary ingredients.

I don't have yerba buena, Archie, but I have applemint which is the next closest thing to it. You can use some when you come over for the event.

Folks, it appears that Archie Goodwin and Spiridon will fill two of those chairs at the end of this month, when they both pay me a visit, along with a few other friends to share some good food, good drink, good cigars and good friends....put these all together and you have, what we in the cigar bulletin boards community call a "herf."

....and I am Soooooooo looking forward to being there Tommy! Hmmmm, let's see....if we have 3 seats occupied by RedPop, Archie, and myself.....I guess I'd have to add Taxman1, Douglas, & Doc Holiday. There are of course many others I would love to sit down and enjoy a cigar and conversation with....hard to narrow it down to so few!!!

As for the reasons for those I have listed....I happen to know Taxman, and I have had a few "conversations" with Douglas & Doc, so would love to meet them.

....for the same reason I'd have to add Art to the list as well....I'd figure out a way to squeeze him in!!!

Something like a "speed-dating event". Everyone on the Lounge gets the chance (or has the displeasure ;) ) to sit and chat with every other member for 5 minutes.

12 seatings an hour into upteen-thousand members.

It should only take a week or two tops.

Who wants to host? :D

Looks like you have that honor. I'll watch from the sidelines. ;)

Well, first thing will be to print off unforgeable invitations. I plan on a good spread of food and drink and don't want any freeloaders crashing the party.

-yeah, I'm looking at you Senator- :D

My six though?

I don't know how I'd choose. There's a good score of folks I regularly interact with, and more I'd just like to sit and listen to. (I stay quiet by constantly having drinks going down.)

So I definitely need to hie myself to the Queen Mary next time, that might be the best realistic choice.

That sounds like a good choice. That opens up plenty of new avenues for you. You might even see me there. :D
