Carole Landis...hands down.

I mean...how could I not?

I just saw "4 Jills in a Jeep" night before last, and while not to detract from any of my previous choices, I must say, my heart is going thump thump over Carole Landis. This movie is based on her book about her experiences entertaining the troops in England and North Africa. It's pretty factual, including the fact that she married (disastrously) an American Airman.
She's another sad Hollywood story.

Ah, yes, dear Marlene.... The typical French thing never really did anything for me, but a husky German girl.... oh, momma!!

I've seen Marlene's costumes in the film Museum in Berlin - well worth a visit, they have quite a collection - apparently she kept all her costumes, and they ended up being donated. Judging by the costumes she had one hell of an hourglass figure - but oh, my was she tiny!

And how about Jessica Rabbit?

I was deepyl in love with her for years, but in the end the guilt got to me - her being a married woman, and all that.

I have always loved Betty Page. Although she is not an actress per say.

Well, she did do a movie or two...

As for Betty Page she did retire from her former life, all of which was the work she did to help her break into Hollywood which of course never really happened.....she lives (if I remember right) in SoCal and only recently given a few interviews.....she was always religious and hated the work she did I think now in her later years she has realized that it wasn't all that bad.....there was a really good documentary a few years back about her that had her first interview in like 30+ years......
Betty also did very little stage burlesque she mostly did photos and blue movies most of which were so seedy that you wouldn't have admitted you seen one let alone owned one....

I love Bettie, she truly is the standard. Hells, if I ever found the right girl for me, it would just be the icing on the cake if she looked like a redheaded Bettie P... :love:

I recently watched "The Notorious Bettie Page" again. Interesting little film - very thin on character in many respects but damn is Gretchen Moll one beautiful lady and an absolute dead ringer for Herself.... the thing that comes over really strongly in in is how the bondage photos were viewed in those days - and yet how tame they are by today's standards. I've never been a one for porn, but Betty's stuff hardly qualifies for that now. Funny how social mores change. In some ways a bad thing, in other ways a good thing (got to be healthier that folks can admit to a taste for corsets and big boots now without raising too many eyebrows..).

And I'll say again: while Audrey and Carole and Virginia and the others were attractive while alive and in their primes (it would have been especially easy to get lost gazing into Ms. Hepburn's eyes), unfortunately a seance is not my ideal method to woo fair lady--and for that reason alone if not others (and believe me, there are others ), the ladies of the Lounge far trump their vintage style-influences IMO.
