Identification of a B-6 TYPE jacket

Hi everyone! I am new to the fedoralounge and I was hoping to find some help to identify, date, and value a B-6 Jacket. Thanks in advance for your help!

Looks like a Schott. May be called a “b-6” somewhere but isn’t really.

I agree with @Bfd70. It’s not a true B-6. Schott did make a jacket similar to this and called it a B-6. Can’t help but notice Schott is spelled wrong on the label: “Schutt.”

Collar and body of a B3, knits like an A2/ G1, handwarmer pockets like a B6. It's a civilian jacket, clearly, taking inspiration from a range of military designs. Not sure whether it's a copy aping a Schott, or if what looks like a 'U' there is an 'O' with the label wrinkled a bit? I've seen that happen. Either way, the wide-ribbing on the knits looks to me like something from no early than the mid 70s, though I suspect much newer from the overall look of it.

I was thinking the same! But the overall quality of it is quiet impressive, I am thinking about keeping it.

I think they spelled it wrong on purpose, when I googled Schutt Industries I came across a U.S. company that supplies military equipment (not clothes though).

A sheepskin/shearling jacket is always great to have. They’re durable, provide excellent warmth, and it lets you stand out from the crowd. I say this as a Chicagoan where 90% of us wear a basic black jacket for winter. So having something different is always nice.

I have a similar jacket in black that I love wearing. The elastic/fabric cuffs and waistband feel like a throwback.

I can’t see anything specific about it from when I bought it. My sales receipt only says “Shearling Jacket.” It was from the Winter 19-20 season. There is one available in tan on Grailed. Size XL.

This is a note from a German/Austrian/Swiss dry cleaner. Possibly also a repair order.
Certainly does not allow any conclusion about the jacket. Except that it was probably once in Germany/Austria/Swiss.

Oh, yeah, repro is no reason to dump something, unless to a specific collector of original pieces. Personally I prefer reproductions: I don't have the space or money to collect stuff that isn't for practical wearing (this is all about day to day wardrobe for me). This sort of military-inspired, civilian jacket can be more interesting in a way than exact military repros sometimes. Both have their place, of course, though in the post-war years especially these military-inspired styles that take cues from various designs were much more commonly seen being worn by day to day people than actual military jackets. There's an interesting story there that can be seen about how fashion adopts elements of the military, especially in periods when there's a strong, hero narrative, like the 'noble airmen who helped defeat Hitler' line.

And a great jacket that looks good and wears well is justification enough in and of itself, imo.
