I wore one jacket for the whole winter!

in my climate I don't ever need a jacket, but I like to draw jackets and my jackets mere a result to that, honestly few years ago I always wear my jackets daily, but that phase went away, I rarely wear jacket now, I wear vest more than I wear jacket, and one jacket I hang on the back rest of the chair in my living room is that cheap m65 cotton replica and a duck canvas vest, both are my most frequently worn outerwear. my leather jackets are just mostly sitting on their hangers now.

These two in combination with a t-shirt, hat, scarf, and gloves were good between -7 to 10 degrees Celsius during a 2-week trip - though not an entire winter. The cross zip offered lots of options: unzipped, zipped, lapels closed, collar up; and which accessories to don or not.

For me a layered leather jacket is fine down to -5c on a good day and if I'm not standing a lot outside. If there is a strong north wind then even 0c might be too cold with a leather jacket. If I'm standing still a lot then it's even worse. But overall from around 0 or -5 I'm using the chance to use my recently acquired N1 that I fell in love with. Moral of the story - temperature doesn't even tell half of the story

If I leave the house more than once a day, I always wear more than one jacket in a day, whenever I get the chance. Heck, I even have a dedicated dog walking jacket.

Beautiful country Peter, I wasn't raised that far north but I know the Moors and Yorkshire North Sea coast, bloody freezing in the winter, parka, hat gloves, also worked outside all weathers

A leather jacket and thermals are OK for a walk to the shops ,but would take 5mins on the moors,Yorkshire or Rannoch up at Glencoe to make you head back searching for heat .
I drove over Yorkshire moors many a time heading from Catterick to Heysham to visit my mammy,,in winter it was just like here.

Rare birdy. I've always hankered after a B2, though only Lost Worlds (overly spendy for me in London) and Buzz Rickson (Overly spendy AND I'm not sure they ever made my size) do them that I've seen. I believe Aero could make a cracker of a B2 (the Thunder Bay with the right collar and the pocket arrangement wouldn't be took far off right off the bat imo), but I know Ken has said over the years there's just no demand to make it worth making up the pattern. I guess we need a nice, high profile movie or streaming show to make 'em sexy like Macqueen did for the A2 for my generation...

Bliss! If I could have that from March to October, with just maybe 24 in July and August so I could wear linen then, I'd be happy. Then bring on Winter November to February!

When it's really cold ( by my standards) I go with Wool, namely my 50's vintage Woolrich 503.
I especially like the long body wool coats to keep my rear end warm

I am still really wanting to find or have made a mouton collar for my Taylor's CMPD, it's quite warm with it's removable thinsulate liner and is great at keeping out the wind but I like having a collar that will keep my neck warm.

I have a scarf that I end up using, but needing a scarf is kind of annoying.

Being able to only need one jacket would be nice, but then we wouldn't be here.
Where I live in northern California the weather is warmer than a lot of places, but it's erratic and there's a wind chill so darn often.

I also work a blue collar job so I need my work jackets and rain jacket.
Plus I also have my beaters for at home in the workshop and doing yard work...etc

I've long envied Scotland the climate. I've loved London since I became an immigrant here in 1999, but while I couldn't face rebuilding my career and social life up there, if money was no issue I'd buy a sizeable house up in Glasgow and spend much of the Summer there at least. Maybe Christmas too.

It's an antler tip whistle which I made to call my last Pitty pup in from the backyard.
I was wearing this jacket when she died in my arms, so I attached the whistle to this jacket.
I am thinking of eventually getting a few dog bone patches sewn on as well.

There was the Royal logistics corps(rlc) also.crazy times.

Haha I knew a couple of green jackets, that doesn't surprise me, Catterick is a big base, my eldest son was Navy, EM engineer HMS Somerset, he's got into a few naughties himself, especially in Turkey Marmaris and Bangkok less said the better
