I want to learn to dress in timeless style. This isn't the right forum is it?

I saw the "What you're wearing today" forum and everyone looked like they were out of the 50's or something. To me they seemed like they were going to a golden age theme party or something. I respect this style and I think it's good but I want to join a community where I can grow my style sense.

Is this a good forum for someone who wants to dress well and conventionally these days?

Can someone tell me what this website is about? Because I went to the about section and all it says is it's for "Golden age" style.
What is the golden age?

Hats are classic/timeless.

-classic (authentic) trenchcoats
-flatcaps
-(winter)scarves
-suits
-leather-jackets

And so on...

If Fedoras/traveller-hats are too much for you, just wear a nice decent flatcap and be relaxed.

Are you sure that those outfits don't look good because of the couple model+photoshop? Do you have a very developed upper-torso area that can stand the "dwarf-ing" effect of low rise skinny trousers? Are you sure that a shirt cut so tightly around your body will drape so perfectly and won't stretch in the space between the buttons every time you move your arms?

I have - my luck - very long legs and a quite sleek silohuette. Neverthless I can't fit in skinny shirts like those without having the feeling of popping out buttons and every pair of modern trousers makes me feeling a dumbass that borrowed someone other's clothes.

I forgot to mention: I'm 24.

This is certainly not timeless. In a few years this look will be viewed similarly as the worst fashion crimes of the 70s and 80s, no doubt. But if you want to dress like this any high street chain store will have what you want. Just make sure to leave the fly partly unzipped or you miss the most important part of the look.

While I would suggest you aren't in the right place for the specific look you require but you will find some good hints and tips about dressing well.
This forum is more specifically about historical clothes styles and dressing. Having said that, I have no specific interest in wearing vintage style clothing but I have found many useful hints and tips that have, hopefully, helped me in my daily clothing choices.
Style is timeless while fashion ages quickly - you will find lots of style here, in my humble opinion.
Your mileage may vary, as they say!

You can dress trendy or you can dress classic. Rarely do both styles converge. Good taste however, never goes out of style.

Actually, there is a vintage style that is timeless! Levis 501 jeans, boots, cowboy, motorcycle, or the ones I get lots of complements from young people on, Wolverine Addison 1000 mile wingtip boots! Then, either a T-Shirt, sweatshirt, or a dress shirt, white or color with the sleeves rolled up a couple of turns. For a jacket, either an A2, G1, or a good old Perfecto style motorcycle jacket. As for hats, now is the new golden age of hats from what I have seen of young men, Cowboy, news boy, even a fedora will do! This style has been around since WWII, probably will out last most of us!

This is true but so is a three piece suit, black brogues, white shirt and a tie.
