Love the Hat!

First off it is a good brand and a quality hat, chances are you could not get the same for new at that price.

Second it appears to be in good condition and should respond well to a cleaning and reblocking, if it needs it.

Third it is something you wanted that fit the style and color you were looking for.

Fourth most likely it was within what you budgeted for in this purchase.

So you got something that fits the bill at a reasonable price. With a little work it will be near perfect almost like new.

Smile and wear it happily!
You took a chance and have not suffered over it!
You will have a great hat, instead of grousing about the one that got away.
;)

What's it worth ?

So, what is a hat worth ? Whatever you are willing to pay for it.
I try to get away from the concept that only the finest hat or only a 100 % blend is good enough. I wear them, I don't worship them. Wool, felt, blend, I really don't care as long as it fits me well and I think it looks good on me. Enjoy the hat, wear it in good health and be happy.

Heh I did mean my last comment as tongue in cheek. But I still feel like Art has limited choices. I don’t doubt he can make a quality but I got the impression hats were of limited production and were limited to the colors of felt and ribbon he had on hand.

Who knows I may yet seek out Art for another hat in the future. I may even seek out my own custom made optiomo.

However, the truth of the matter is I had budgeted $200 it’s not that I can’t afford what I spent but I defiantly felt like it was worth the ~$300 but you know I guess i would have liked it in the 200 range. I think I just had a beer right before the auction ended lol

Any how thanks for the comments. I think I’ll try it out for a few days and just see how it feels. If it’s not right I’ll have it reblocked.

This is what I was thinking. It seems like it certainly is a quality hat at nearly any price. But what I wanted was a

1) Quality Hat
2) Off white
3) Tear Drop Crown
4) Wide brim

I haven’t seen many options for this (I know it’s the winter months.) and this hat is the right size. Meets the qualifications and I could afford it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone

I guess wheni look at the pics and i look at my downs i see the sharp crisp lines in my Stetson. This looks like it has lost its shape. again this may be my amature background. but if you don't think it needs to be blocked i'll just adorn it as is

The hat looks fantastic to me. Couple things--one, the apparent lack of sharp, crisp lines may actually be an indication of felt quality, and as others have said, it will shape up nicely by hand when you get it. Two, if you decide it needs help, Optimo provides excellent service for reasonable prices--they have completely refurbished one of my Borsalinos, and the results were outstanding. I am sure they would do an outstanding job on one of their own hats too. Good luck--enjoy it--looks like you got a great deal on a great hat.

That is one sweet hat!!!
I would not change a thing on it.The crown looks great to me.
I still have to much farmer left in me, that hat would be way off white if I had it. None the less, it looks to be a great hat.
Wear it and enjoy.

Why not just call Optimo and see if they can clean and reblock it for you? (773)238-2999.

I have a few Optimos, and find that they do great work. And, Graham tells me that they do a substantial mail-order business, so you can count on the hat making it back to you in good condition.
