Funny boy, that Stu LW. This crops up every so often when new people fist encounter him. For us old hands, we may or may not choose to buy from the personality that sells his products, but mostly by this point either eway we just roll our eyes and... There really ought to be some sort of TFL equivalent of the 'Who else but Quagmire?' schtick from Family Guy for Stu....

Gotta wonder if TFL is part of the "effeminate social media blog"?

"Many Sellers only parrot the misinformation gleaned by self-appointed "experts" on the effeminate social media blogs, chat rooms, sites, etc."

Yes. I think somebody on a forum once criticised the accuracy of Stu's A2s, and, well.... it's surprising how thin super-manly skin can be sometimes.

TBH, I'd be deeply disappointed not to be viewed with that sort of suspicion by these super-macho types...

Yes, and it is full of "metrosexuals". Gotta wonder about LW use of this borderline hate language.

A lot of it certainly would be borderline trouble-with-the-law stuff across much of Europe. That said, I've never been fully able to shake the suspicion that to some extent it's something of a put-on for the benefit of a particular target market. There are a lot of 'angry middle-aged men' out there who lap this sort of stuff up. If that's his target market, it could well be a selling point.

What BS. They can't legally prevent someone from selling something 2nd hand that is authentic and if eBay allows that type of control, then this is the end of them.

To be fair, while it's poorly expressed I don't think he's getting at sellers of used, genuine LW product but moreso counterfeit stuff, or large production facilities for 'fashion leather' (Pakistan is one country which is known for large scale production of leather garments for the fashion industry; I've handled many over the years, and quality is generally commensurate with the calculated retail price band for end target market). Sort of people we've all seen lift others' photos - it's hit Aero, ELC, all the known names here - and then put those on their ads and wait for someone to order one rather than make their own pattern and photograph that. Ironically, there was even one of these sites a couple of yearsago using photos of me, lifted from TFL, wearing a LW B3 that I had bought second hand from John Lever.

I can understand the frustration with this sort of thing, evne if Stu doesseem to take it rather as a personal attack.

Another one to add to the blacklist then although I’m not their audience with the thick and heavy leathers.

I agree with you. In truth, I've often suspected it's purely a marketing move, similar to the guy in the US several years ago who was a retailer for Second Amendment related products, and made a big media splash about saying he would refuse service to anyone who voted for a particular candidate for high office. Or, closer to home, the boss of a chain of budget-pubs who has loudly assoicated his business with a particular political cause. That sort of thing will always be a gamble that it will attract more people than it puts off, of course, but whatever Stu's actual target market it's clearly not the likes of us.

What I don't get is what is "not recommended" considering the price. It would still be a thoughtless if he hasn't been told the price. Is a sample from their early days so bad that it isn't worth 210 Euros today? I wonder how much they sold it for back in the days.

It does start to remind me a little of Another Maker with whom I once emailed, and who put me off buying an older-stock jacket from them on sale price because they marketed their nerw hides by bascially rubbishing the old ones! Maybe Stu would just prefer to encourage people to buy new from him rather than used - which is somewhat understandable when you think about it.

Given his habit of writing straight forward email, I guess he must be really concerned when he deems it necessary to write such a lengthy page of disclaimer and comment on his site.

If I'm correct that to an extent the Stu LW persona is intentionally channelled as a marketing tool of sorts, the website rants will be all a calculated part of that. I fidn them enough to be off-putting, but I certainly wouldn't fault the quality of his product, so I can imagine there are those prepared to roll their eyes and ignore it, just as there will be those, I'm sure, attracted to buy from what they see as a kindred spirit.

Just purchased a $2000 Lostworlds B3. Stuart is extremely short and to the point with his responses although he did answer most of my questions while talking with him on the phone. I tried picking his brain about the sizing of the jacket since all he asked for was my height and weight and all he said was that “we believe that the 46R will fit best”. I’m extremely broad in the shoulders since I like to weight lift. I have a 34-35inch waist and a 48inch chest which I let him know all of this while talking to him yet he still thinks a 46R will fit best.if it does not fit properly I’ll just have to return it for a new one is all. All you will get is a two three word response and if luck a sentence via email. So with that being said I am hoping the durability and quality of the jacket makes up for the customer service Aspect. I’ve heard really good things about the quality and durability of lostworlds jackets. I have purchased numerous aero leather jackets and the durability and quality have been great but wanted an actual fictional durable winter jacket that I could use while working. To sum it all up. Customer service is lacking Stuart is extremely to the point and short with his responses but if you can look past that than you will be receiving a jacket that will be passed down to the next generation. I will post pics of the jacket when I recite it in 3 weeks
