That's why I've got an Akubra Campdraft and Squatter. Country hats, fedora bash, thinnish ribbons = casual.

I have to say, I'm not one usually for patterned hats, but I really like what Kangol did with this one, and a cool model name as well lol.

I've got the "Tropic" model of that hat in a medium grey, which is a soft, open-weave hat that's my beach hat. Public beaches in Southern California are not where you want to leave a fine Panama or felt hat laying on your towel. I spend most of my day in the water bodyboarding, so I needed something I didn't have to keep checking on. It's super light, very breathable, and keeps the sun off my nose. If it gets stolen, I can have another one here in 3 days. I think stingy brims in general would work with your look, ukali. Nice to see someone rocking the full beard as well. Frank

That works.:eusa_clap You see many wearing these types of hats but for some reason it looks really good on you and not so much on others.

One important building block of successful hat wearing, in my opinion, is having a good intuition about what will work well on you personally. It is extremely specific. Too many variables to generalize. But I have to say, I couldn't have envisioned a successful wearing of that hat until I saw the photo. But then again, I'm a geezer, so why would I have guessed. May the young keep on defying my preconceived notions!

I think it works because unlike other people that wear this kinda hat, he actually wears it on his head, rather than barely hanging on the back of his head my the most negligible amount of friction possible...

Then again, some can pull that off rather well...Like I said before, I really like the color scheme of the hat. Bravo! :eusa_clap

Interesting. For my tastes, I do like the darker version better. I'd just have to try it in person before deciding if it would work for me, and if I'd wear it.

That one does look good on you though, Ukali! :eusa_clap

Over the years I have learned to love patterns. True, some called out to me immediately, but on the whole, not so much. Eventually I started trying patterns in caps and brimmed hats of all varieties and started realizing that you can trick them more casual or more formal, and, thanks to the pattern involved, they actually go with a remarkable amount of ensembles.

Then again, as a person who loves flat caps just as much, or maybe more than, my fedoras... I suppose it was inevitable.

Long live Herringbone! Long Live Nailhead! Long Live Patterns!
