This is the most recent pic I have, it's from sometime in October, and the hat itself has some fuller's earth on it:

Yeah, I have quite a few pics throughout this thread, plus in the "Indy Hat post 'em up" thread. Also, you could check out COW (club obi wan) where you will no doubt get endless information about the hats from every movie, all the standard "Indy-gear", plus all the gear you could never even imagine that Indy-fans have accumulated or replicated. One of the mods there is a genius in replicating every possible angle of the Raiders hat in every possible scene (there were, of course, many hats used in each movie, so they all look slightly different). He has a Fed IV as well, and I used his pics to go on when styling the current version of my Raiders Fed IV.

BTW, while you may be interested in an Indy style hat now, keep in mind that your tastes could very well change by looking at how others here have syled their Fed IV. Not to mention all of the other wonderful works of art worn on a daily basis.

Here is one of my Fed IV's. I did the C-crown on this one. This is the one I have with me at work now so it is the one that got posted. I too have a brown one that I did put the "Indy Bash" on it and will have to post that one later. They are great hats and fun to shape.

I keep being tempted to put mine in a "high C" shape, since that is what I do with most fedoras, but I have it in the "Crystal Skull" crease now and will leave it that way so it's a little different from my vintages or my other Akubras.

Besides, it just looks good with that center crease and the loose pinch,

Hi Sam

I tend to buy a new hat with the crease already in it. I have two felts with a center dent (Crystal Skull), one with a Tear drop, and one with an in-between crease I borrowed from the Campaign Hat thread. I think that the center dent looks better / more old-timey than the tear drop I guess. I have two straw hats with the tear drop and IF I'm still in town, I'll get a third Sun Body from Jack with a center dent, a Homburg, or a diamond crease.

Mike,

I would really like to try a straw homburg this season if I could find the right one. I just think it would be fun.
I have considered the whole straw derby deal, but I can't decide.

I will try to remember to hollar the next time I'm going to Jacks and we can try to meet there.

Better hurry, I'm Boeing and we're leaving..... The way things look TODAY, I could have just stopped by TonyB's and bought the hat in a few months.

(I'm new here, enjoy fur felt fedoras, and other hats too, so I should fit in quite well I guess)

I ordered one on the past Sunday evening (11:10 PM EST). The Fed IV Deluxe came yesterday, nobody was home so it went back to the post office where I picked it up today. Otherwise it would have taken little over 3 days to get from Katoomba, Australia to New York, USA)

At first I was apprehensive about bashing it - first because of the stiffness, second because I never ever bashed a hat before - the last fedora I had (a Peters Bros. custom indy with a ToD bash) came pre-bashed. Then when I got around to lightly misting the hat with water, and started bashing it (after a couple of light dry-bash failures, it (thanks to the guide at http://adventure-realm.com/raidersbash.html) became more natural, and now I feel as if I could bash any hat.

pics [thumbnails, click for full photo at your own risk]:

I really hope the sizes havent changed on the Fed iv cause im getting one and i want it to look EXACTLY like this. That side profile of the hat look like what im going after..VERY STRAIGHT and not laid back at all..AWESOME!!..I give this a 10/10..:D

I will try to get some more photos posted this week. All I did to bash this one was wet it down, use the rolling pin technique that David aka DJH posted a while back to get the center dent, and then put it on to apply the side pinches to make sure it was centered.
