I just picked up this thoroughly used Schott jacket today for $50 at an indoor flea market. It fits me perfectly so I had to buy it. Can anyone help me approximate the age of it? It has "Schott" on the front zipper pull, so I suspect 80s? It apparently had a zip-in liner and snap-on fur collar, which I'd desperately like to find for it. Any opinions would be welcome!

Agree with the other members. Gail is retired and she fields tons of questions on jackets. Gherry handles repairs etc. Gail is like a Schott encyclopedia and she's very accommodating. I've dealth with Gherry a few times and she's great to work with. They've sent me replacement zippers a couple of times. Gail is the real ID expert. Contact her.

Clearly it's one of their "four-way" naked cowhide jackets that replaced the classic Schott 674 (*) sometime in the late eighties or early nineties. It's got the half-belt back, and it once had a zip-out lining and a snap-on fur collar. A very popular model that's still made:

Of course, calling this model an A-2 is hilariously wrong!

(* I had a 674 purchased circa 1984. It had a different back construction with a horizontal seam over the shoulder blades, and came in two different configurations [both in either brown or black]: a plain collar and quilted lining; or a permanent faux-fur collar and a non-removable acrylic pile lining.)

True, its not an A2. I actually like these better because of the hand warmer pockets. I used to have a beautiful A2 from the late 70s, but no hand warmer pockets so I needed up never wearing it.
