I just got this in. Biker jacket lapd

I just got this in no labels but it looks to me like a califonia leathers.

Size 44? Pit to pit 24.5, shoulder back 20, arms 27, front collar top 21.5, back bottom of collar to end 25

This one has the thick patter kidney protection. Condition needs a lot of tlc. However, I am going to learn how to sew leather and repair all of the easy stuff like belt loops for starters.

Several questions,

1. Does any one have a nice Browne Belt buckle? The solid brass type? or Does any one have a Browne belt for sale in black color size 34-36?
2. I have several old stock # 10 zippers. The zipper is not original but really cool looking, should I replace with a new one? or should I just replace the damaged side (pin)? or repair the damage side? Damage is not a total loss but I will not last as long as a new zipper.

I wouldn't replace the zipper as long as it's still functional, especially if it's looking cool. I'dd fix it with minimum effort and then replace it in the years to come if it ever gives up service.

edit; learning how to sew leather will be a big advantage for any future purchases and repairs you have to do. I'd love to learn it too, if only I had more time. The amount of money I pay to have jackets repaired or altered is getting a bit ridicoulous recently.

Yes, It looks that way... I had one before and was taken at a club in Beverly Hills. That tells you about some high rollers... I then saw the jacket at a club called the Maya. I beat the crap of the guy who claimed he got it as a gift. Got my jacket back. Those were the cool 80's for me.

Most the Cals I owned all came with one. If you need one built for it you can contact Cal as they still are operational (I believe). Otherwise Alan at Johnson Leathers could do one up for you.

It looks a whole lot like the Langlitz I own, bought off this forum, and it's from 1982. Inside looks identical in particular.

Open the left-hand inside pocket, see if there's a size in there, or maybe a Name of who the jacket was made for, usually with a date. It may be very hard to see. Once you have that info, give the folks at Langlitz a call up in Portland.

I'm 99% sure it's a Cal Leather. In the front shot, you can see the top seam of the handwarmer pockets. That's enough to distinguish between it and a Langlitz Columbia. They do look very similar, and both are exceptionally high quality.

Thanks for the info. I did look in the inside pocket for size or details. Does yours have the kevlar looking fabric?

It also appears to me that the red paint was part of a institution organization? I am just speculating this. I will contact Cal leathers to get some info.

That's what I was thinking. Also, the stitching on the waist looks like Cal leathers.

When I say the same, I mean it - The jackets were so similar I personally haven't noticed any difference that would make me say with any certainty who made it. Can't remember the names though. One is, I think, Just Leather / San Hose or something like that? Some of their jackets are stitch for a stitch copy of Cal. So yeah, while there's 90% chance what you got there is Cal... It doesn't have to be.
Doesn't make a difference really, if the jacket is nice.

That's Just Leather in San Jose, CA. Funny, I always thought it looked kind of daft driving by it. Never stopped in. Had I known! I think Techno here has one?!

Speaking of the hometown, come to find my great grandfather worked with leather, doing saddles! My excuse is that this leather addiction is genetically inherited.
