Charlton Heston said it best in Planet of the Apes, "Take your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape!"
Bah, no simian appreciation from me.

Behind the 8 ball,..
I always thought that monkeys were cool when I was a kid. But I had a bad experience with an organ grinder's monkey when I was about 3 years old. I went up to the monkey to put a nickle in his cup and pet him, but when I got within range the monkey freaked out and grabbed me and roughed me up pretty good.
I guess he had issues and was angry about his job or something. [huh]
They are much better off in the jungle.

Excellent, another chance for me to break out my monkey story...

When I was about 5, my Grandmother lived in Tarpon Springs, FL, just down the road from a primate sanctuary/tourist trap. It was Christmas, and as we were about to sit down for dinner, my uncle started laughing and calling us to come to the window.

Apparently, the monkeys had committed the great escape, and they were everywhere... trees, power lines, out in the yard. After enjoying their freedom for a few hours, most made their way back to their cages, since that was where the food was, but it made for an interesting Christmas, that's for sure. To this day, I am amazed that there weren't fried monkeys from playing on the power lines, though I think a couple of them became gator food in the canal.

I love all animals. I think monkey are cute, but I would never own one. I think they require more care than human children. The closest I'v ever seen a monkey aside from the L.A. Zoo was a couple of weeks ago. I was driving to work and when I had got to the end of my block there was a woman walking her dalmation and hanging on her back was a baby orangutan. I thought it looked so adorable as it was looking at me. It was about the size of this one :

Dogs and cats are domesticated animals. Everything else is wild, upredictable, and should not be assumed to be domesticated. There is a difference, and they should be avoided.
Especially if they have the ability to throw crap.

I think the proclivity of simian interest is a repressed racial memory from a time when hominids were evolving as Homo and shifting from the primate Simia. I believe we're complelled to see them as a lower "us" whether we consciously know it of not.[huh]

You should watch your back. You've revealed your achilles heel on the world wide web.

In India, I witnessed a monkey climb down a pillar from the roof of a restaurant, steal a lady's piece of cake while she was eating it, and run awa! Monkeys also liked to throw rocks at my friend Zack. I saw a monkey shove another one off a small cliff, too.

And get this: I saw a group of monkeys start up a guy's car and crash it! The owner freaked out, obviously, and the monkeys fled the scene. It was probably the funniest thing I've ever seen.

Mischievious creatures.
