It seems someone put a lot of effort into designing this hat and it certainly shows. It is made beautifly and very well for a production hat.

That hat is a stunner Douglas..a true historical find....

My own opinion is that when the crown can take it, a nice pinch on a turned down brim brings out the best in a hat....

Nice score.......

Cool hat, Douglas, both literally and figuratively!

That's part of the fun or the 'Bay, bidding on those auctions with few pictures and a sketchy description, winning something for a comparatively low bid, and keeping your fingers crossed before it arrives.

You open the box and it's the moment of truth: Is it a dog or is it a winner? It must have felt like Christmas opening that box! :)

Douglas, your hat looks quite a bit like the one below, at left:

Superb lid

The vent holes appear to stop short of going
all the way through the felt? Great pattern.

And just as soon as we see a Mallory with that
distinctive sweat die cut, you find a Stetson with
the same cut. Never seen that before those two hats.

Finally, I have one Zephyr weight Stetson, but I sure
would like to get more. That's nice felt.

You are right Tony. I mostly know what I want and it is just a matter of find a good one but every so often you see that one thing the pricks up your imagination and bam. You just can't leave it. A long shot for sure but some pay off large.
Christmas and birthday both. when I saw the side vents I new I hit the mother load. The original nox was in good condition But when I saw the color I was disappointed. From the photos it looked more beige, but as soon as I picked it up I had a grin from ear to ear.
James OH Yeah I see. I wonder how rare these are.
Marc ,thanks for the adverts This one does look similar to the Mallory except for the edge binding. For me the Mallory looks more like the Knox, even the ribbon is close although the Knox does'nt have vents.
