Yea but I think Langlitz doesnt use Horsehide anymore from what Ive heard. Its either cowhide or goat nowadays

So Cal-Leathers only use horsehide, or do they also use other hides? I'm surprised they don't get as much mention as the other jacket manufacturers around here. I guess it's the price and the limited style of jacket?
Yeah, Langlitz only use goat and cowhide.

Im assuming their probably like other brands that if you ask for a certain leather, they might be able to do it. I think its because they just stick to their signature model which is the Highway Patrol one. But from what Ive heard they got quite the fan base so now we know how they have been in business for so long :p

Congratulations strokes1251.

I bought my Sam Brown belt new. It was a few years ago but I don't remember it being expensive. I always wanted to add a basket weave belt, the only down side of it was the added weight. Not a big deal when riding I guess.

Thats a perfect fit! For some strange reason every type of these jackets I have ever bought was missing the belt loops guess no one before enjoyed them either. By any change did your jacket have the makers label on it?

Thanks, it does fit good. I only have a t-shirt on in the pic but I can get a sweater/sweatshirt under it for colder weather. My waist is smaller now so those side adjusters are pulled in a bit.

Mine belt loops were missing too. Had a leather shop make and fit these.

No makers label in mine either. No signs of stitch holes to say there ever was one. I've seen lots on ebay over the years and Cal Leathers is the only brand that I can remember.

Yea I hear you I love putting a hoodie underneath to give me that road warrior feel :) Yea I know the older Highway patrol jackets were made mostly by California Sportswear and Star glove and leather (Star Glove would later become Cal Leather!). But what Ive seen is alot of these jackets rarely have the the labels still on them.

I can't say I've read every message and this may have already been touched on:
I had a similar jacket made for me in 1968 and I believe that the detachable collar was rabbit fur. Maybe yours is too.

You guys that can wear those things, are quite vexing to those of us who cannot! Awesome jacket, congrats.
I haunt ebay in the hopes that some day a cop jacket will come along that would fit, but so far no such luck.

Ah well, the search is part of the game, no? :}
