Time for the ridiculous news story of the day.:)
From Yahoo News:
To you, that angry, horn-blasting tailgater is suffering from road rage. But doctors have another name for it — intermittent explosive disorder — and a new study suggests it is far more common than they realized, affecting up to 16 million Americans
In the old days we called it being an idiot with bad manners!lol lol Today everything is labeled a "condition". I am sure there is some medication to help curb it.

Come on and admit it. Who has it? :p

Coccaro said the disorder involves inadequate production or functioning of serotonin, a mood-regulating and behavior-inhibiting brain chemical. Treatment with antidepressants, including those that target serotonin receptors in the brain, is often helpful, along with behavior therapy akin to anger management, Coccaro said.
If this condition is serious enough to suggest treatment with anti-depressants and anger management, should these people have a drivers licenese and be on the road??

Has anyone ever experienced (or participated ;)) in a case of road rage? How did you handle it?

I read that yesterday and got very aggravated by it and flew into a rage. Kidding.

It's one of the reasons I am no longer a counselor. Few people want to take responsibility for their actions, and the pharmaceutical industry just loves to capitalize on that.

.

I give them the road toot-sweet. Not losing my family to a rabid dog.

Some folks just snap. And they may well be armed. Not worth it.

This is nothing but a bunch of excuse making. In the old days they would have simply said the guy has a bad temper. The truth is that most of us do if pushed too far. Service people tend to give me this condition. :p
Just today the alarm company sent out an idiot to upgrade my system. The guy had nothing in the order of know how or brains. This was not so upsetting but the fact is that they sent a different guy to another site for me with the same system and this guy had it up and running within a day. The central office should have sent the same guy. I would have went IED on the main office if my wife wasn't handling it. Half her morning was blown waiting for the guy to show up and say he had no idea how to fix it. Now they had the nerve to tell her to call the local office to get the same guy. Duh! They should have done that in the first place. :rage:
I don't need drugs, I need competent people around me. lol

Regards,

J

It sounds a lot like OPD, or obnoxious personality disorder. On the show "Designing Women," back in the early 90s, one of the characters was diasnosed with OPD. It was a joke back then!

I couldn't agree more, instead of being a jerk, someone has to blame their inability to contain their emotions on some "disorder". Its always someone or something else's fault other than their own.

They, have a drug for EVERYTHING now a days. It's ridiculous. Everytime you turn on the television or read a magazine, there is an advertisement for some new drug to help get you through the day, it's sad.

Yep. One of my pet peeves.

The main problem is that this makes people think that someone who really does need to take a drug to control something is just taking it for one of these pseudo-conditions.

Yet another facet of an inherently evil drugs industry. tell people they're ill and they'll use our products.

Yep! Have you seen some of these television commercials? They expect people of all ages to look and perform like teenagers! lol
Most people buy into that culture of youth and do whatever is necessary to convince themselves they are "young".

I read all that yesterday and thought it was pretty silly, too. Seems that we need to be doing more research on some important physical maladies instead of this foolishness.

And while I'm on my soapbox, drugs would be considerably more affordable for those who really need them if they didn't advertise ad nauseum during the most expensive times of the day: prime time. I've grown weary of ads about bladder control while I'm watching the evening news. The other week one of my young daughters said, "What's 'reptile dysfunction,' Daddy?" Daddy nearly choked on his adult beverage and said "I don't know, honey, something about lizards I guess..."

Why, wash your mouth out Mr Powers!!! (with Jim Bean! lol )

It sounds like we're going back to the bad old days of the 70's, where long-term meds were prescribed for any and every condition. My poor Mum ended up having to be weaned off Valium in the 80's, she'd been taking it for more than 10 years - for what? All of a sudden, doctors in the 1980's disagreed with the prescriptions they'd written the decade before.

Watch out everyone, next thing we know, they'll be marketing a pill to curb OHD (Obsessive Hat Disorder!) :p

All of this business of phony syndromes and pseudo-cures,....

.....is upsetting!

(Where are my pills?????),.......lol

But seriously, the human race got along just fine for thousands of years without all that nonsense. In fact I think that all the greed driven drug pushing has made people far less healthy than they were just 50 years ago.
