You are correct except in one matter. "Irregardless" is not a word. The correct word is "regardless". :)
I think the look has an almost "uniform" appearance, and would be best served if you were going for that kind of look.

Stating outright that you "don't care about what anybody says" is not conducive in eliciting "thoughts, comments and discussion".

I think everyone gets this. The word irregardless is very frequently used ironically by most of the world as a shorthand for the kind of moronic use of the language that proliferates on the western shores of the pond. "Stategery" is another such word, gaining devotees after the master of vocal twistedness attained the oval office in 2001.

Wow a grammar lesson on the lounge, thought I was home with my wife a former English prof. I think James has it right, and who really makes the rules. If you like it wear it.

he he. Shame on you … errrr, you can't fool me twice. Old saying in Tennessee; definitely not in Texas, apparently.

In other news, I'm glad to see that this subforum, after 10 years of whining, is finally spelled correctly.:eusa_clap

A lot..or alot? A lot has it properly, however, alot is used more often.....(sigh) LOL! I think any one should simply dress as they wish to dress, and unless you have a special or specific "schedule" of being dressed for an occasion, (Wedding/Funeral/Black-Tie, etc.,) that if you are pleased in what you see while you are dressing, then go for it.

I have several pocket squares for my Husband to wear and some are solid colors for the desire of matching a tie being worn, and some to even include the color of braces to match right along. Then we have the pocket squares that only have one matching color, but have a paisley design or geometric with a razzle dazzle of colors. Enjoy the moment and wear what you want that makes you feel well dressed.

I never liked the idea of matching neckties and pocket squares, insofar as I've never cared for the idea of pocket squares.
Wouldn't a handkerchief look about the same and actually be useful, as well?
Furthermore, I rather fancy the shocking fashion notion of matching one's handkerchief to one's shirt, and, possibly, socks as well. (White excepted, of course.)

The tie and pocket square seems to be just a part of the rest of one's attire. I do see some men that will wear a pocket square and NO tie at all. Now as someone just made mention of socks also matching in on all this....proper dress would call for socks to be the same color matching in the trousers in color. BUT you can see a trend (just check out Robert Graham socks) that the newest rave about socks is they are wild patterns and colors, some colors on socks now are almost too bright, but it is a rave and trend in the fashion world, even to wear such with "vintage"....

I do however still appreciate that a person should dress as they want to dress and not be so worried about some of the rules of proper attire. My Husband said back in the late 1970's there were some places you could not get into unless you had very proper attire, and one that if you came in the door wearing a tie, they would cut off your tie with scissors.

There may be a time and place for picture perfect "form" when it comes to being dressed properly...and then the rest of the time when you can be dressed decently and the way you want to look, "rules be damned".
