Pepperidge Farm makes something called "hearty white" bread. Boy, it's good, and talk about some dense dough balls. (yes, I still do that sometimes:eek: )

As long as hamburger buns are toasted, I'm good with white or wheat. Of course, I don't know how many places outside of NY and SF have wheat buns. At a fun restaurant in San Francisco, an ex-transvestite joint called Hamburger Mary's, they serve the hamburgers, with all the pickles, etc., on toasted wholewheat bread. Not buns. It is delicious.

Whole wheat hamburger buns

My new method for making burgers: whole wheat buns from "The Farmer". Heavy duty whole wheat buns. Frozen "Bubba Burgers", from Texas. Really premium. Fried on a skillet, then I melt as much Stilton cheese (or other blue cheese) over them as I can get on (usually do it the microwave, actually). Add a huge 3/4 inch think slab of really ripe red tomato, and splash on gobs of Peter Luger Steak Sauce. When I can decent corn, which is hard in the city, I'll have an ear of corn with it.

I use 80/20 Ground Chuck, Worcestershire sauce, cracked black pepper, garlic salt, a pinch of BJ's Steak & Rib House Chicago Steak Seasoning, and a pinch of Tony Chachere's famous Creole Seasoning. No bland burgers here!

Either cooked in a skillet over a gas stove (use just a little olive oil)(in the pan) or outside on the grill.
ONLY on whole wheat buns.
Mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese are up to the individuall. We have them all.

Corn on the cob. Bought fresh at the grocery or Farmer's Market. In boiling, lightly-salted water for two (2) minutes. Served with butter, salt, and pepper to taste.

Iced tea, soda, or something stronger, it's up to you.


MAN, I'M HUNGRY! Let's eat! :)

I assume "The Ghetto Store" is in poor area of your town?

That is one of the reasons why the health of the poor in this country is so bad. Cheap nothing white "wonder bread" is all that is available...

In probably one of my most insane acts ever, I made myself a patty melt at 11:30 last night. Marble rye bread from the supermarket bakery, ground chuck with A1 steak sauce, and white American with grilled onions and "special" sauce (the usual mixture of ketchup, mayo, and mustard).

Hey, I was hungry.

Wonder bread isn't lazy or idle. Well I guess it is idle in Southern Cal now.

I blame the lack of education for the reason of the poor health of Americans Citizens.

Oh, and fwi... the smiley face really doesn't make your "off color" comment any better. frankly I'm surprised you even said that? Million of working families would probably find that comment quite offensive.
