We did fine here. A little bit of rain, mostly this morning, and some breeze. Overall, less damage than your average thunderstorm.

This is the extent of the damage in my neighbourhood. Some traffic lights are out, too.

No one was injured in this incident.

On Hiatus. Really. Or Not.
The wind at around 12:30 this morning was incredible! I have no idea of its speed, but it was buffeting my house so bad as I was laying in bed I was expecting it to become detached from its foundation. I'm on the third floor and I was being rocked back in forth....it didn't put me to sleep, though.

Same thing happened to us, Quig. Very scary, but in the end there was no damage.

Power restored, no damage to life or limb. My family and friends are all safe.
Our prayers and thoughts are going out for the folks that were not so fortunate.
Incidents like this tragic storm, makes us all realize how very little control we have over our own existence.
Lives get changed in the blink of an eye.

Blessings to One and All.

Just took a stroll up Bronx Park East, near the Botanical Garden. At least a dozen BIG trees down in the park or on the streets. Interesting observation: almost every downed tree had some sort of issues with its root system. The park trees all seem to have grown right on top of huge Manhattan schist granite boulders, so their roots were wide but very shallow. Nature always sides with the hidden flaw. (That's a corollary of Murphy's Law.)
Several smashed windshields, a couple of totaled cars, but no injuries here.

in Toronto as well and you're right...it was certainly cap weather this morning. No fedora today.

Heavy winds last night. A large branch fell on my neighbour's roof. It's already been cut up and roof repairs underway. We certainly didn't get the large quantity of rain that was predicted.

We made it through the night in one piece, power on. The shop where I worked was even open and doing steady business. I'm really quite amazed. My power stayed on through both Irene and Sandy, but was out for 4 days after a 60 minute July storm.

Not a heck of a lot here, though I've been working most of the day and haven't really been outside except to and from work. But apart from a few minor power outages, nobody really seem to be talking about it, just another day. We did have some good thunder boomers float over, heard them really well while inside, but it just dumped rain.

Hi All

We were very lucky. I am just outside of Atlantic City NJ a city that was crippled with blackouts and floods, fire etc.
Eight hundred yards of the famed boardwalk was destroyed.
Blessings and best regards to One and ALL.

I'm here, we didn't get hit nearly as badly as was predicted. In fact, none of my family members lost power during the storm yet every prediction was that millions of people in Central PA would be out of power for hours up to days...

While this is not Hurricane Sandy, I was suddenly reminded of this clip. :p

Here in Astoria Queens, everything is fine - far enough from the river to avoid flooding, new electrical infrastructure from the recent blackouts held up well. Mostly it was a wind and storm surge event, not much rain. But many like me are going to be off work for a while - subways probably won't be up until the weekend, electrical to downtown Manhattan may be about the same.

Did a last-minute single-malt run yesterday. Drenched my Stetson Chatham - now that it's dried and brushed, the brim looks better than it has in years - and no shrinkage!

I work for NYS OEM...WOW, what a night I had. I hope everyone here from NJ/NY/DE/MD/PA faired ok, especially after some of the reports and phone calls I was receiving last night.

No snow here Dan, but there was some in the southwest part of the state (PA).
Ten days ago we had a tornado that passed within two miles of my house (too close for comfort, if you ask me). Yesterday we had Hurricane Sandy. I'm not sure if I want to even look at the ten-day forecast!

East TN is expected to get snow, and so it's possible.
The temps were right for the past few days.
Not sure about the other states.
