How's the fit on my Aero racer?

One thing everyone's forgetting is that pants, regardless of rise measurement, still slide down and hit you in roughly the same spot. Unless you wear suspenders, or tighten your belt way too tight.

I'm also surprised people are saying his jacket looks too tight. Doesn't look too small to me. I thought this was the preferred look for a CR

Its definitely not the TFL approved style BUT I think for the look you are obviously going for, it looks great.

If you posted it in a more fashion forward forum like SF, I'm pretty sure most would love it and "approve".

Yes its short but as you said, you wear your jeans very low which, love it or hate it, its how young guys wear their jeans these days.

The reason I say it looks too tight is that the jacket looks constricting around the midriff. It's not about being fuddy duddy, it's about whether or not it works, and I'm afraid that not even Thurston would go for that fit! Tbh, this is a more of a Style Forum thing...

Fit may be a bit more Styleforum than TFL but I personally am of the opinion that the OP is pulling it off very well. It works.

Again, I wish I could find those 50's car show photos - Most of the guys there wore much, much shorter and equally tight leather jackets. Smithy mentioned Golden Era, but whenever someone posts photos of their jackets actually looking the part, large majority of members complain about it being too short / tight / etc. Which is fine I guess but just look at those numbers on truly vintage pieces that pop up on the Bay; they're mostly around 23" to 24" in the back.

I'm waiting for the OP to state the back length of his jacket but I'm still convinced this is not a short jacket at all.

When jackets from the so called golden age period show up and are 24 inches it is also worth noting than men were generally around 5 ft 6 or 7 back then.

And as HD suggested, if the OP prefers to wear short rise pants with that jacket then it is going to look wrong regardless of whether it is 22 inches or 28 inches in length.

Seb, it's a common misconception that people used to be shorter. Average height has been the same for literally thousands of years and if anything, people have become a wee bit shorter today, than they were in the recent past.

I like snug jacket too, yet I think only when the jacket has just a little room margin, only then it could develop interesting creases, if the jacket is super super tight the creases won't develop all that well, so I think a size bigger (if the jump is not that big between this and the next size) would still look snug, and the shoulder would appear wider (to me cooler), and the sleeve would sit lower and the jacket would be exactly at his pants belt line, and with potential to develop cool creases around the back and around the chest pocket at the front when the leather is broken in.

Makes no difference to me how short the sizing was or ( some think ) is still suppose to be. Custom sizing of leather jackets wasn't available back then ( to my knowledge ). No way I'd pay this kind of money for a leather jacket trying to duplicate sizing that many guys in the '50s had to settle for.
In this case, perhaps it's not jacket size and length but most likely the jeans and beltline. So if your preferred fashion is to give the illusion that correctly fitting jackets should look extremely short , then by all means go for it. Since it's not my style, I notice it immediately.

As I have looked at the OP's pictures several times, I don't have a clue how the CR really fits. First of all, I perceive that selfie pics fail to adequately reveal the true fit with distortion (parallax effect). Anyone is free to correct me if I'm wrong as physics was never my strong suit. Furthermore, the situation is compounded by a shirt not being tucked in, and what appears to be low rise jeans. I would be interested in pictures taken by another person at 8' to 10' away, front and back. I have to finish by saying @tmitchell59 has set a new bar for illustrating jacket fits with his incredible videos.

Yeah, I was talking to a health scientist who said the average height of a man in 2050 will be 16 inches.

That's a link to another image from Instagram. The length down the back from collar seam to hem (not including collar) is about 23". Pit to pit is 18". I'm a fairly small dude though at 5'6" 145lbs.

Regardless of low slung Jean.... and I admit I wear mine pretty low, anatomically speaking the jacket length hits right at my hip bones.
