The quest for perfection leads to never being happy.

This looks great and it looks like the right size for you in this style. Being brand new and not broken in, its the worst it will ever look on you.

If you just don't like the style or how it sits, return it and move on but honestly, nobody "out there" is going to see you in this and think twice....have you seen how badly 99% of people dress lol.

Virtually all of my jackets have had or do have that fold when worn unzipped, except the ones that are too snug.

IMO, keep it and enjoy it, any new one they send you will have more blemishes than this in 2 weeks of wear anyway, that just the nature of this leather.

I appreciate the responses. I did hear back from the shop owner and he said that while these types of marks are common with this leather he still felt these were excessive and the coloring seemed off as well. He reached out to Y’2 to get their feedback as well. He’s also willing to send me a replacement that he can guarantee hasn’t been worn free of charge and will cover the return shipping of this piece as well, so at the very least I can confirm they are a quality dealer with solid customer service! This is probably more than what’s owed so I’m now debating what to do next. I’m still unsure if the fit is right for me and would be curious to hear what other people think?

My biggest concern is the buckling that is happening across the chest. When it’s unzipped the jacket seems to buckle under the arms but when it’s zipped it’s more noticeable across the chest. Doesn’t sit flat and maybe not the cleanest look, but this is likely the closest size in Y’2 that’s going to work for me. I have a fairly broad chest and this is a 44, which is far larger than what I’d normally order. So not quite sure what to do yet. Definitely don’t want to take advantage of the shop owners generous offer if the fits not right, so appreciate hearing any feedback!
I don't think it will help if we tell you that the jacket fits perfectly if you're not convinced yourself. If you have doubts now, you will also have doubts in the future.

100% this.

OP don't overthink it. It fits great on you and the leather has character for days. I'm willing to bet different batches of that stuff have different shading and other characteristics.

Don't let perfect be the enemy of good.

No, it’s fairly comfortable zipped and roomy enough to wear a decent later underneath, which definitely wasn’t the case with the smaller 42. The leather is still fairly stiff so your point is well taken. Imagine it will loosen up a bit which could certainly help with the buckling.

I think the leather needs to break in. Most of what I can see here is new leather doing new leather things. My CXL cafe racer I’m wearing looks like it’s made of birch plywood at the moment and is buckling all kinds of weird, especially in the back, but I know it’ll settle down as it softens a bit.

Is it uncomfortably tight when zipped up? The fit doesn’t look off to my eyes, but my eye isn’t as keen as a lot of guys who will chime in, and your opinion of the fit is the most important. Keep in mind that the sleeve length may creep up a little as they crease, but you’ve got personal preference to work with there.
The jacket fits you perfectly. The best is the enemy of the good

The jacket looks nice on you.

For your information. Based on EU+German law, if you buy via the internet, which you have, you have 14 days to indicate that you will be returning the article. You don't have to state any reason, you just return it (in an unused state). If you want to return it, initiate the process as soon as possible.

See here:

https://www.evz.de/en/shopping-internet/online-shopping/right-of-withdrawal.html

P.s. I presume you are USA based but don't think that the point of origin of the buyer matters, you have purchased in the EU.

p.p.s. This jacket may have been purchased a few times andd returned which may explain the slightly used look. This happens often here.

Nevertheless, you often have to pay the return costs yourself.

Appreciate the responses, I think I’ll keep it for now. I’m still curious to hear what the seller hears back from Y2, but I’ll likely keep the one I have and save him the trouble (and not have to pay any more import fees!).

I think that would be a good outcome for all concerned. The offer of the shop owner is generous, but hanging on to a jacket that looks great and will look better in time surely won’t hurt you.

The jacket fits not bad - but I’d want sleeves to be a tad longer as after getting creases /rolls in the arms the sleeves will look shorter than they are now in the fit pic.

I also wondered if the hem would flange less (or taper more) with side adjusters fastened more? Perhaps the style of this cut is )( shape? The benefit is you can layer under in cold weather though.

The hide is perfectly fine. I remember when I first got a natural CXL HH jacket how I liked the uniformity of the colour. Worn it for a couple of times, in the rain, with kids ice cream rubbed on it, etc, it has developed a nice patina-ed ‘me look’ and molded to my shoulders and waist very well.

Bottom line is - if you like the style and fit, I’d keep this jacket and wear the hell of it and ‘make it yours’.

That said if something about the cut or fit that bugs you each time you put it on - you’re better off returning when it’s still new - swallow whatever return and tax costs, and move it. You won’t get close to that sale value once it is worn.

Good luck and enjoy the journey of seeking a jacket that makes you feel happy each time you put it on

Note the sleeves creases and the bulge/crease under armpit for this perfectly fitting (IMO!) jacket.
