Any one have a Alessandria by BORSALINO from Bencraft Hatters?
How would you dress or wear this hat? I'm searching around for either new or vintage era clothes to go along with new hat (coming soon) I have The Federation by Hatsdirect and will soon add Federation Deluxe, having been told its allot softer than the Federration which I can wear with almost anything.
but Alessandria is differentially a step up, I'm thinking comfort as well as style.
So what do yo wear, a suit, sport coat, or suede (leather) coat?
Need some ideas, Thanks!

Hondo,

Frankly, I think you could wear your new Borsa with just about anything, but to match its prestige, I'd pair it with a suit or dressy sportcoat and tie.

In colder weather, a nice cashmere of camel hair topcoat would look especially dapper with it.

Since you do not say what color the hat is, I cannot help with color coordination

J.T. & Dixon,

The back-to-back photos of you two just goes to show that the same hat can look entirely different on different people. If you had not said so, I would have never guessed both of those hats were Alessandrias

I have a couple of vintage Alessandrias both tan, one w/ a 2 3/8" brim & one at 2 5/8"

I wear them with everything I own. I don't and have never even owned a suit (at 46). But I wear the Borso with everything from a canvas chore jacket and jeans to my Goat Gibson & Barnes expedition and kakis to a tweed sports jacket. Personally I wouldn't change your M.O. at all. This is a very versatile item. The thin ribbon defiantly (in the U.S., anyway) suggests rural ( or "country" or "sportsman's") origins yet the materials and workmanship would also be appropriate with a Saville Row suit. I don't think you can go too far wrong, really.

What color are you getting?

Some very good photos guys (except for Johnny Dipp) you know styles.
I thank each and every one of you, I think I know what I need to wear new hat with, us guys with big heads (7 3/8) the hat doesn't sit as large as some of you, still I like the way it feels, I'll post a photo soon.
I'm off to downtown San Francisco this Friday afternoon to look at a few vintage stores, before I buy anything newer.

This Alessandria by Borsalino from Bencraft Hatters is softer than Federration.
Its dark gray, far side in photo, but looks almost darker. Federration Deluxe is coming in a few months or sooner, Thanks

The Federation design is certainly very adaptable, though I don't know about the Deluxe being softer. In my experience - which admittedly is limited to one regular fed and one Deluxe - the latter was noticeably thicker and stiffer felt out of the box. I can't claim to know whether this is the norm or simply an anomally in my case, though I would have assumed that thicker felt would tend to have a little less give in it?

Awww, gee. When I got my Stetson at Bencraft last May, I wanted to get an Alessandria, but didn't have the nerve to get such a large crown.
Clearly, this will be my next hat! Soooo cool!

I see you guys don't wear or have the feather, should I get rid of it?
Its very soft, I like it, even for us (I mean me) fat heads at 7 3/8 :D

Edward do you have a picture of your Fed. Deluxe?
I spoke with HatsDirect and they did tell me the Federation Deluxe was a bit softer, maybe its as time goes by (wear).
Federation is definitely stiffer, I will let you know once deluxe arrives.
Its not a problem.

(hat goes well with my chins, no? :p )

On my monitor, the colour is pretty true in these photos - your mileage may, as they say, vary.
