Smithy, I'm pea green with envy! I miss my home country! I want my birthday in Summer again!

Last week on the night of my birthday we had about 2 1/2" of snow and everyone went nuts! We don't see much snow here in London....

Haha! I'm making the most of it before I move back to Norway where I'll be getting quite a bit of the white stuff.

And just to make you even a little bit pea green, I've been eating snapper on the barbie and Mallowpuffs for afters tonight :D

we got a big snowy, sleety, rainy mess!! Now all the streets are like skating rinks.

What she said...

We only had about 3" of snow, but late afternoon, it warmed up and started to rain.
All of the snow became slush.
I shoveled and moved as much of it around last night, only to find it completely frozen over this morning! YEEHAW!

Luckily, I left some areas as piles of slush and didn't try to scrape down,
so instead of having a nice slick ice sheet in my front yard, its a bit more like the Arctic Tundra... which is easier to walk on.

Oh, well, I don't really like fish so you can keep that but I haven't seen a Mallowpuff for YEARS! Ooooo, childhood memories of birthday parties...

(Smithy and Miss Sis then talk about all sorts of obscure New Zealand things that not many other people will know about!)

If life hands you snow,...then make snow persons. Or go ice skating, or skiing, or whatever you fancy for winter fun. :) Eh what?

Exactly. I got home last night about 2230 and the only footprints leaving my house were the ones i left there at 0830 that morning. noone from any of the other apartments had even ventured out for snow-bound fun.

I just dug my car out from a foot of packed ice. Needless to say, I couldn't make it to school this morning.

You should be fine coming up this way. I've heard that main roads are in pretty good shape. Just watch out for icy patches on secondary roads, parking lots, etc. And bundle up-we've got unbelievable wind chill. Looking forward to any diner reports :)

Thanks for the weather report,
no diners this trip, i'm afraid. I'm going up to the plainfield curling club tonight for a 8:30 pm draw. We play all day saturday, and if we win; there may be a game or two sunday morning.
It's going to be a weekend of no sleep, lots of fun, friends and bad food, next to the railroad tracks in a funky industrial area of NJ.

We have been informed that we may get another 2 inches of snow this weekend, on top of the snow already on the ground.

Mother gets annoyed because it isolates her. I don't like traveling during snowstorms, not even minor ones because there are others who drive like they were on a dry, sunny freeway, and the next thing you know, they are hydroplaning into you.

A lot less snow, though, than when I was young.

I live in Syracuse, NY (Upstate NY). This winter has been okay, we usually get snow around early November, but it didn't snow here until mid to late January. It has since caught up though! On Valentines Day I hurt my lower back trying to shovel 3 feet of snow  and am now taking potent ibuprofen and muscle relaxants! We get lake effect snow and nor'easter snow. Double whammy!! Here's a lovely little tid bit from Wikipedia about our snowfall...

"Syracuse (Onondaga County) is known for its snowfall. Boasting 115.6 inches (293.6 cm) on average, the Syracuse metro area receives more snow on average than any other large city in the United States. Syracuse continually wins the Golden Snowball Award, among Upstate cities. Its record so far is 192.1 inches (487.9 cm). The high snowfall is a result of the fact that the city receives both lake effect and nor'easter snow. Snow most often falls in small (about 1-3 inches/2-8 cm), almost daily doses, over a period of several days. Larger snowfalls do occur from time-to-time, and even more so in the northern suburbs. (Oswego County)"

I'm with Waingirl (Hiya Neighbor!).
We got lots of snow from the nor'easter then from lake effect on top of that. Then practically every day since then it's snowed at least a few inches!

I spent an afternoon last week shoveling off our 3 levels of rooves, so we wouldn't have a cave in... I did that following the CAVE IN of our practically new, not paid off yet, 10'x13' shed :(

Normally though, I LOVE the snow! It can make even the sadest of areas look nice and clean and new.
