None, not much sense of style where I live (Staten Island,NY)since the invasion after the gangplank was built Staten Island went to hell, nothing but tomatoe gangsters, and other undesireables if you know what I mean.It was a sleepy little forgotten borough many years ago,NO MORE.......I hate the place, and my family were early settlers in the 1600`s...

spotted two young ladies wearing straws and an older gentleman in a straw.
I had 5 compliments on my hat and my shoes while getting a shoe shine at the casino.
They had the premier of boardwalk emperor last night so I looked like some of the cast members.
Best regards

Went shopping at Costco today. Saw 2 gents in what looked like modern Stetson fedoras, both black! I also saw another gent in a stingy brim- not sure of the make or material. At the Verizon Store, I met a fella wearing a very stingy gray straw of some type. I was wearing my Milan Stetson Startolinger......too hot for black felt in these parts!:D

Not exactly "today," but within three days at a large university campus, I'm pretty sure I noticed two or three felt fedoras (one beige with near-matching ribbon, a dark brown Indy looking type of hat, and a light grey with black ribbon stingy brim), and maybe a porkpie hat. There are also the cloth or straw trilby types that are more commonly seen.

I received two thumbs up today while wearing my vintage tan Dodds with dark blue ribbon from two different young man wearing newer fedora's. However, my best compliment of the day came from a lovely young lady at the flower shop. I was getting a boutonniere for my suit jacket a nice yellow rose, and the young lady was quick to admire my Dodds. She said the hat made me look very dashing along with my dark blue suit. Dashing is not a word I hear much in south jersey so I payed for my rose and thanked the lady for her compliment.
She informed me that her mother and herself just purchased the business and that they are both from London, England.
I then informed the new young owner that I will stop in 3 days a week for my boutonniere, she thanked me for my business and told me the third purchase would be half price. She then asked if she could assist me by putting on my boutonniere for me. I was hooked, while her eyes were a beautiful green,I quickly lost sight of her eyes, she had curves on curves, she said my name is Lillian, then tiptoed upward to reach my lapel, I bent slightly and I could smell her perfume. She ask my name I hesitated then said my name is Joseph,( I haven't use my given name in 40 years) She smiled and while putting on the boutonniere she said, well Joseph should I call you Joseph or boutonniere Man.?
Before I could answer, she had the pin in the flower and the flower thru my lapel, she stepped back and smiled and said I like Joseph.
I walked towards her and removed my Hat and bowed my head, she quickly lifted my bowing head and kissed my cheek, she said she must attend to other customers, customers that I never, never noticed. AS I moved towards the door she said I hope to see you again real soon Joseph. I tipped my hat an walked out. In my car I turned on the vintage record station, they were playing, "Heaven Must be Missing an Angel!" Oh well, Blame this on my hat.
I will keep everyone posted.
Best regards

Quite a few! I was in Vienna and it's much more of a hat place than many other cities/countries. I saw at least 3 homburgs being worn by totally normal businessmen. Lots of stingy brims. All the (horse and cab) drivers wear vintage melones (bowlers). And I saw a couple of super rich guys wearing top-end Borsalinos.

Greetings, All,

I am seeing more and more young folks wearing fairly cheap Fedoras, and when I do, I always compliment them on their nice Fedora. They are always pleased, too, and immediately note that I, too, am wearing one, but a much nicer one. One Gal yesterday was wearing a nice looking straw "Stingy Brim", I am beginning to consider telling such folks, exactly, in an effort to begin their education. Might be hollerin' down the well, but hey, maybe not, eh?! A few weeks ago, my wife and I saw an entire family, our for "lobster fest" around San Pedro, CA, wearing Fedora hats! Dad and Mom had nicer ones, and the kids all wore El Cheapos. But, it was fun seeing that happen, for sure! Yesterday, I wore a recent purchase all day long, a Stetson Imperial Keyclub, in soft grey, and got quite a few comments, compliments, and lots of notice, all over our side of the mountain. It's certainly nice to have that happen, and who knows, maybe a change in the tide is on the horizon. We can only hope..... Take care, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Doc

We went grocery shopping early this morning trying to beat the rain moving in, (our timing was off though) and while leaving saw a elderly gentleman sporting a trench coat and what appeared to be a Federation. Had it not been pouring down I would have loved to talk to him.

actually saw one today which means it will be a while before I see another.

Hi DJH
... some of my friends and fellow poker and bridge playing colleagues, while they compliment my look, they themselves claim they would never buy and wear a hat that was worn by someone they do not know, some even said they would not wear a worn hat from even family members. My guest is there are lots of folks out there that feel the same way.. Which is quit great for US vintage or as my aforementioned friends say USED HATS. We say VINTAGE they say USED or OLD...
Either way good for us.
TIA
Best regards
CCJOE

Interesting point, I guess that's true to some extent, and suppose many do see it that way. On the other hand there is definite allure to the resilience, quality and history - both in production and where its been, that makes an older hat more desirable. Someone here put it well when they said that hats have memories...

Few days old, but...

I'm not sure that this really counts, since I didn't see him in person, but I was happy to see fedoras returning to sporting events! Check out the guy in the background between Swedish manager Erik Hamrén and an associate during the World Cup qualification game against Germany a few days back. Anyone want to guess what it is?
