How long does it take to make an Aero jacket

I ordered it in August 13 and got it confirmed on Sept 12.

I believe when I ordered it, the website said 8-10 weeks wait time. Website now says 10-12 weeks? So is it 8-10 or 10-12wks?

And is it from the order date or the confirmation date?

Ordered on Aug15, confirmed on Sep03 and my status is still on 'customer confirmed'. Don't worry, it will arrive. With other makers is much much worse.

I believe you are not made for "delayed gratification".
It’s definitely harder for some of us…
My first two custom orders were both Aero’s through Thurston Brothers and the wait just about killed me. It was not until I had at least four or five custom orders under my belt that I was able to relax and just wait for it.

The hard thing for me is waiting beyond the stated estimated timeline. I'm good with what the craftsman tells me (8-10 weeks, etc.) But on week 11, I break out in a cold sweat.

Me too, I almost wish they wouldn’t provide a timeline, but if that were the case, nobody would ever order from them. I’ve had a couple of makers (Langlitz and Wesco) deliver the product in half the promised time, that was a very pleasant surprise.

I was just about to mention, that my MTO Langlitz took 12 months, right on schedule.

It's also quite intricate, difficult work here, the machinists likely need a solid break once in a while.

They have the whole thing on their site about their production slots at Aero which mean you'll get an order through them quicker; my order through them took twice as long as any through Aero direct lol. And the best part is from the production date on the tag, they weren't actually wrong... they just didn't send me my jacket until three months after Julie made it.

Yep, and they always have a perfectly good explanation as to why it is taking just a bit longer then promised…
I have to say, though my most frustrating jacket experience ever though was a custom order directly through Vanson. It was still pretty early in the pandemic, and they clearly were not back up to speed. I think I ended up getting the jacket four or five months after the promise date. At one point I tried to cancel the order but was told that my deposit would not be refunded If I did.

Most of my jackets were finished within the specified period. Once it was only 6 weeks, once longer because shearling. But I was informed of this (and once 9 months, but that was because of Covid). Even now, after the discount campaign, I received an email saying that everything would take longer. Good for me, because I was able to reconsider my order.

You mean through TB? what were they doing with the jacket for 3 month?

No idea. Might have been an oversight in the most literal sense if not realizing it was there? The funny thing for me is that during the six month wait (a month after it was made though I didn’t know it at the time) I bought my Perfecto (which I probably wouldn’t have if I had received my jacket) that I’ve worn much more.

Im guessing that they probably used it as their fitted jacket on someone else

I don‘t much mind having to wait for an MTO order. If I decide I want something, I will want it in three, six, twelve months too.

If a maker gives me an approximate delivery date, I take it as a guesstimate at best. We are talking small and tiny outfits here, where so much can go wrong: staff shortage, machine failure, delay in materials (unavailability of specific hides in the desired quality is a recurring issue), even ‘positive’ effects like a surge in orders after a discount, new offering etc. If there‘s no volume in production, it’s very hard to even out delays without anybody being ‘to blame’.

I wish we could get ourselves to cut small businesses some slack when it comes to minor inconveniences.
The only thing I am not cool about is a maker going AWOL for weeks when I try to make contact.

For clarification: I don’t talk about something that’s been promised inside 6 weeks taking a year. But an estimate of 8-10 weeks going up a week or two - come on…
