Many guys have asked about Bill's Khakis. How high waisted are they? How much taper in the legs?
This is how high the waist sits on me, Version M1P. About at my belly button.

Is the navel really that high? I have a pair of Bill's as well, and compared to an actual pair of vintage army khakis, they hang about an inch or too lower.

Aren't navel positions somewhat variable? Mine sit an inch below. I tried dragging them upward to the navel and beyond and find myself with quite a bit of ankle exposed. But, my alterations person is a few fries shy of a Happy Meal so perhaps he has been wrong all along and I have been incorrect.:eusa_doh:

Bill's

Gents,
I must admit, I've been a great fan of Bill's for years.
They've traveled the world with me, come hell and high water.
A great compliment to their style, construction, and quality.

How do you feel about the width of the cuffs/leg ends?
Are they really wide enough for a 40's look?

thanks

Yes.

When having them altered, pull them up high before they mark them and take no guff. And the M2 style won't fit this way.

My navel is at navel level. :)

I have a pair of the M1 twills and they're great. Do you know if there is any difference between the button fly and zipper M1s.

I've got both. Besides the one obvious difference, the button fly version seems a bit fuller and higher waisted. Judging from Scotrace's pictures, mine will actually go higher, above my navel. Any higher and I'd look like Ed Grimley.lol These trousers have a very deep rise.

Cheers!

Too high, or just right?

I just got my first pair of M1's, button fly, and they come up to about an inch above my navel. I'm not used to pants this high! Is this where they're supposed to sit? My wife hates them - but I think I like the look. Might take a lot of getting used to though...

Thanks!

I have a pair of those also - plus two pairs with zip fastening. There seems no difference between the button front and zip front as far as fit / rise goes. The fit you describe is correct. Trousers should fit on the 'true waist' which is usually an inch or so above the navel - then have them hemmed appropriately ( whether you like the bottoms giving a little 'break' or whatever ) and they'll look good. I love mine - the most comfortable trousers ( pants ) I ever wore. Your wife hates them ??? so what ?? - she's not wearing them - YOU ARE !! Dress for yourself - no-one else. If another doesn't like your dress style then tough. If they do then that's a bonus

Having just got a few pairs of Bill's cheap, I can confirm that the M1Ps are gloriously high-waisted:

(Normally wear them level - didn't notice they were lower in front until after the pics were taken)

I have to say, these are the most comfortable pants I've ever owned. I finally see what y'all are talking about when you talk about real high-waisted pants - they are fantastic. Never once had to tug them up while wearing them out & about.

Incidentally, it turns out these are some sort of special edition I got cheap - they're made of canvas. They feel really great, and are extremely well-made.
