Red Beard made mention about felt moths liking the darkness of a hat box.
Having put my felts back into their boxes for the season, I was wondering if I souldn't drop a couple of moth balls in with them? I know they smell bad, but I did see a box of cedar smelling moth balls at the store recently that didn't seem as bad as the original type.
Anyone use moth balls in there storage program?

I have some cedar in some of the boxes. I wear each of the hats enough that they're not in the boxes for more than a week or so at a time, and I put them all out in the sun once a month.
no problems as of yet.

A good regular brushing periodically ought to keep moths at bay; it will with clothes. Regular use will, too.

Both of you have great looking setups. Mine are just sort of floating around my office at present. I've got to figure something out. I'm going to try to get a hat rack of some sort.

How do you store them?

Do you keep them in their respective box(es)? Or do you hang them on a hat rack?

Here's mine in combination with wifey's hats on the rack ...

This is a hat rack my father in law picked up at an estate sale. It is not for permanent storage, but I think looks kinda nice for seasonal use..

I've got six on a hat rack, several in boxes in my closet and the rest sitting where they can in my room.

I bought some moth balls that says it wont transfer the odor to the items stored. They still smell bad though. We will see how my felts smell in the fall!

Oddly enough, I've always loved the smell of moth balls!

I haven't responded to this yet, but it's about time I had. A lot of you have very creative ways of storing your hats. I don't. Here's mine:
