How do I Clean a 50s Pea Coat

Recently I found a 50s era pea coat in great shape overall, except for some blotches of a tacky substance (seems like pine tar) on the front. Any suggestions for cleaning that won't damage the coat? Thanks!

Take it to a dry cleaner and ask them.
Or, you could try lighter fluid.

I would get it professionally cleaned. That's the only way to go.

Professional cleaning should be fine.
