That is a gorgeous hat! The velour looks buttery soft! Thanks for posting this.

Thanks everyone :) I bought this hat especially for this trip over Christmas 2017.
Another member has posted a kind of database for Peschel hats where more photo's of this one and many others are stored. Sorry I cannot remember the topic name at the moment.

You're right, but there again, when she's weaved her mesmerising spell, what chance have you. I couldn't resist this one. We married 50 years ago.

A great hairdo, I always loved 60s style beehives as some called them, others may have called this style the Cottage Loaf. I do remember this style having a little resurgence in the early 1970s RnR scene.

More and more I'm noticing people appreciating the hat(s) I wear. Yes, I get noticed when I walk into an establishment, but more likely because the hat I'm wearing isn't your standard baseball cap. But lately, I'm getting more compliments. Yesterday I was wearing my Selentino black fedora and a woman I know as an acquaintance told me, "I like hats. Yours is very nice."

That's happening with greater frequency these days.

It must be happening all over. Over here(England and the Isle's) it is mainly 'outdoor' types of hat, that is not quite a trilby/fedora but not quite a full on bush hat. wide brim, pinch at front, usually unlined wool such as the Stetson Rantoul Traveller:

These are seen more and more with folks usually coupling it with a raincoat or wax jacket. You do get the occasional weirdo such as me though, who wears a traditional fedora style such as a High crowned Borsalino(Howard Hughes style) or Stetson Stratoliner with matching accessories :)
To be honest though, most of the British think a Stetson is just a cowboy hat unless they are into vintage clothing.

In some ways the Fedora is making a come back...you see more and more people wearing them as the trend is coming from all of us and from those we see in the entertainment area. I still get out and wear one of my Fedora hats, have people come up and ask where is my Husband as they would see him wearing his hats most often then me...when I tell them he is passed away the smile and let me know it is a sad loss and then tell me to keep wearing my hats, they like them.

I actually had a you g teenager mutter yeehaw cowboy as I walked passed wearing my Campdraft in Clapham. Thankfully, I have a lot of friends admiring my hats (mostly women) who I am trying to tempt into making their own purchases. :)

I put it on inside to take the avatar photo, yes, I'm nought that bad, but I would never wear it inside in public, take this as a correction.

It wasn’t considered wrong to wear hats everywhere indoors. It was only in intimate locations where the hat came off. In stores, lobbies, elevators, etc. it was perfectly acceptable to keep your hat on. In a store that didn’t have a steward to check your hat it was expected that you kept it on. The clerks did not wear them indoors, but customers most often did. There are entire threads here on traditional hat etiquette.

Things got convoluted with servicemen who doffed or donned hats as a threshold was crossed.

Look at the wealthy men inside Selfridges etc. during the early part of the 20th century wearing their hats as they shopped. Sometimes we think that etiquette always means stricter when there was often practicality in the rules. Check out our etiquette threads if you’re interested.
