Hi Guy's I'm new here, in the UK.
Went out at the weekend in my stingy brim to a crowded bar in town, there were plenty of people at the bar and a group of around 5 dubious looking characters in there 40's / 50's, they just parted and said let the gangster through, I gave them a smile and said thanks.
I got served straight away and the barman said " mind if I ask you a question" I replied no!, he said can I try your hat on....I smiled, shook my head and said nah!" Oh please I always wanted to try one," I said well you'd better get one, smiled and left with my drinks....I took this as a great compliment.

Mostly indifferent to me. Occasionally I get a "nice hat." When I go out with my teen daughter and she's wearing the Baily Tino fedora I bought her, often we get compliments. Just goes to show, every man looks sharp with a hat, but sharper still with a young lady on his arm...especially when she's wearing a hat too. :)

That big pit bull mix is Allie. Allie does not like hats. She picked me up from at least 50 yards away and started barking and running towards me. It was a little unnerving; but, I am well accustomed to dogs and she was still wagging her tail and the hair on her back was sticking up. So I quickly figured out that she didn't care for my Panama Open Road, and she was more scared of me than I was of her, and doffed it.

Just another afternoon at the dog park....

At least she didn't run by, snag it off your head and start chewing on it.

Well done...maybe he will get a hat of his own now.

I was at a function last Saturday and of course I was dressed as I always do suit and hat and two young kids came up to me and asked me if I was a spy!
That was a new one on me and made me laugh ,I told them "part time" :D

I had a mixed day of it wearing my Daquino clear beaver today. At Narita airport a Japanese man said, "That's a very beautiful hat", which as you all know gives one an irrationally large burst of pride. But when I got to U.S. Immigration at LAX, the agent said "Please take off your cap." :eusa_doh:

@fashion Frank: LOL. Seems these kids had watched the wrong movies.

I for my part do wear fedoras since decades, observing that nowadays it's starting to become stylish again. And hey, I love it!

Have yet to receive a negative comment about my hat wearing, quite the reverse, usually compliments from both men and women. Just last evening my wife and I went to one our favorite restaurants when we're in Pa. and the hostess complimented my hat. I Have been wearing hats for most of my adult life, I doubt that we will see a comeback to hat wearing as it was a few decades ago but, I think that the trend is turning.

Ladies always love my fedoras. Men are always jealous of that.

When someone asks 'Can I try your hat on?', if they aren't a cute young lady, I normally say, 'Sure! Can I try your watch/shoes/wallet* on?'
Then they realize my hat isn't a toy.

Interestingly enough, I've gotten several comments recently on having a nice "look." Well, that's a new one for me. One of our VPs complimented me on my hat a while back and told me it was a good look that worked for me. This is my boss's boss's boss, so that felt good. Another co-worker told me the same thing last week. Gotta admit it's a rush to the ego.

Went to an Indian restaurant today wearing my BBB Montecristi. (High 80's). One of the managers whom I have come to know says he just loves my hats. As we were leaving he took a "weesie" of the two of us with his smart phone.

I was flattered yesterday. The young man at the check out counter at one of my local shops, said how much he liked my hat, a black Fedora and how smart he thought I looked. In addition to the Fedora, I was also wearing black shoes, navy blue slacks and navy blue crew/round neck wool sweater.

It's surprising the number of compliments I get from wearing my fedoras. I'm not fishing for them but it's nice to hear that people can appreciate a fine hat.
