So yesterday at the local market the cashier lady said... "Nice brim, I like it. lookin' all Mack Daddy"
Not being familiar with the term, a quick google search!

Merriam-Webster:
1 slang : a conspicuously successful pimp.
2 slang : a slick womanizer.
3 slang : one that is the best.

I really hope it was just the hat and not the look in my eyes!

With any luck it was both.

Happy birthday to the Mrs. She certainly knows her way around a sewing machine and a dance floor. Sounds like you are a lucky man. BTW, what is your magic energy elixir? You and the Mrs seem to always be on the go and always burning up the dance floor. Perhaps you could bottle and sell the stuff! :)
Thank you for the compliment, I passed on the birthday greetings. The hat and Zoot suit almost passed without notice, and for good reason.
Last Sunday, when we gatecrashed the pub quiz, I got a heads up on last night's gig. The proprietor is a band member and it was he who told me about the gig. "Are you wearing the Zoot suits?" I asked, "oh yes, it's going to be a Zoot suit riot."

Such a gig will inevitably attract most of our social circle, and it did. What a great spectacle it was too. Tina was completely unaware, what a birthday surprise it made. But almost inevitably, I got grief from one of my friends. "I sent Tina a birthday greeting on her messenger account and asked if we were dressing up," he whinged, then added, "I forgot, the only way to get a message through to you, is to chisel it out in Latin, on stone tablets and have it delivered, preferably by horse and cart." "What a good way of spoiling Tina's surprise," I thought but didn't say, however I couldn't let the jibe pass without a retort. "I've told you time and time again, that I use semaphore flags and Morse code, but I'm a bit slow climbing up on the roof these days." That put the detractor and the rest of our friends into a good mood for the evening.

A couple of band members had previously seen my suit, they asked for my tailor's number. Their suits were duly made, but they didn't have the fuller length jacket, nonetheless, they are great suits. This photo is of a promo shoot by a professional photographer, much better than my grainy phone pic. The guy in the hat is the publican.

Ha ha, so very cool! Looks like great fun! I'd say your wife should have birthdays more often but females don't always see the humor in such comments!

Mack Daddy. Nasty!! (Meaning “swell” in fifties vernacular). Great story, Rick! Makes me think of when I learned about swag not long ago...

That reminded me of a Brit slang. One of the terms given to ladies panties is the Victorian expression, draws, or is it drawers? To express rapid movement it could be said that: "It goes up and down quicker than a whores drawers." Not if her pimp was conspicuously successful.

She had another surprise the following day, her fellow retiree paramedics took her out to lunch at a rather upmarketwatering hole and she so enjoyed it that we might be going there ourselves sometime soon. More cost!

My wife has been rather busy of late, she has made a wedding dress for a very dear friend of our's. It's second time round for both bride and groom and the ceremony was yesterday, leap year day. What a wonderful weekend it has been. The groom insisted that we stay at their place, they spent their wedding night in a hotel, they are going on honeymoon, to the island of Mauritius, but their flight isn't until the end of the coming week. Their Sunday being free, they had their closest friends join them for Sunday lunch at a rather splendid restaurant. It was there that I commented to the groom how smart he looked in his new three piece suit, adding that I was impressed that his tie remained neatly tied all day.

The groom would be the first to admit that he's not a collar and tie sort of dresser, I had to tie his Windsor knot for him, but it was his wedding day and he felt it important to look the part. He expressed some disappointment that quite a number of the male guests hadn't made a similar effort, a couple of fellows had actually turned up wearing an open neck shirt and jeans.

It made me feel uncomfortable because I had seen that nearly all those who had worn a neck tie had, by the time of the reception, slackened the tie's knot and unfastened the top shirt button, but at least the tie remained on. Like the groom, my tie had steadfastly remained in place. My discomfort, as I told the groom, was that my wife and I worried about upstaging the happy couple on their very special day. But they were so kind. The groom remembered how we had dressed when the bride's son got married, saying that, so sure were they, of our appearance, the family were actually betting on the colour of our hats.

The best unsolicited comment came as my missus and I were leaving the registry office. "You two," said the registrar, "hark back to the days when weddings were a ceremony of elegance, when people, despite only having a limited wardrobe, along with a limited income, still made the couple's day by turning out in elegance and style. He added, "compliments to you two, you have made my day!" He even noticed, as did quite a few guests, that my hat ribbon feather, matched that of Tina's hat. Made my day too and no-one guessed the hat colour right. Who would ever dare to wear a black hat to a wedding? Us two, that's who.

What! No morning suit? From the photos I assumed it was before 6:00 p.m. ;)

You both look great. Thanks for being the standard bearer.

My wife and I popped into the local micro brew place on Saturday. As I exited the car I put my hat on. As we entered the young woman uttered what sounded like a disappointed "Oh". She then laughed and told me that the window distorted the proportions and she glanced up, saw me putting on a hat and thought it was a top hat like ...her words 'Abe Lincoln's.' She had exclaimed to her co worker..."Look, check this out!". So when I walked in wearing an ordinary fedora she was most disappointed. I apologized for disappointing her but pointed out she certainly wasn't the first.

So, which one are you? 1, 2, or 3?

LMAO!
