How do folks react to your hat wearing?

Exactly, it would be unlikely that anyone would buy a hat before he was at least older than 16 in 1930....
Wearing caps and hats was fabulously more popular in the 1930s than it is now and everyone wore hats and started wearing them much earlier than we do now.

I started wearing ball caps when I was in elementary school. I started wearing fedoras when I was 17, in about 1977, and NO ONE else in my high school wore a fedora; just me. 89+17 = 108, not 130. But I do see your very well made point. Mine is, he wouldn't have been 130 years old... that's a crazy exaggeration, much like the remark of the store clerk who is the subject of the story.

Jamie Hince? Who on earth is Jamie Hince? Apparently he's the ex of model Kate Moss. Wiki gives this report about him:
"James William Hince is an English guitarist, singer and songwriter, best known as the guitarist for the indie rock duo The Kills. He started his musical career in bands called Fiji, Scarfo, and Blyth Power. He co-founded The Kills with American singer Alison Mosshart in 2000."

Really, I'm none the wiser. But for you Mr Hince, my right eye is very sensitive to daylight, I think the condition is called, photophobia, it's something that I have always had, it's not a detached retina nor is it eye damage from wearing contact lenses, nor is it curable. But wearing dark glasses makes an amazing difference.

You could be right about it being a disguise, but the hat and clothes that I wear with dark glasses tends to mark me out rather than make me look disguised, so you live your life and I will get on with mine.

Some days ago, I was in the next bigger city and two skinhead-like guys (non-aggressive) stepped out of our railcat, too. I encountered them three times around the main station and the third time they

at me. :D Harmless funny guys.

I wore darkblue tartan flatcap, white turtleneck, darkblue stone type III, blue stone jeans and my grey Chelsea boots.

Just remember the old adage (cleaned up for inclusion here), 'Opinions are like rectums. Everyone has one and they all stink.'

Everyone is his own arbiter elegantiarum . I suppose that I make my own fashion decisions
You couldn't have more opinions or divide folk more than politicians. They manage to rub everyone up the wrong way. So much so that when I saw Jeff Dunham a few years back, the episode where Walter has decided to run for President, the roar of approval from the audience was so loud that we could almost hear it on our side of the pond.

Walter would never get elected--he looks too much like former Vice President Joe Biden. :(

Ok, here is a DIFFERENT kind of reaction story...My wife was looking at my photo album on my tablet (had some pictures of chairs and paintings she may want from an antique store) WHEN she see this picture:
Natural Whippet.jpg

and says: "That is a really nice looking Hat, you need one like that!!". When I reply: "That IS my hat!!! That is a picture I took for the lounge";)......."remember, that is the Storied Whippet in Natural I finally got";). Then she: "Oh yes,......... That is a nice hat".:):):):)
So, my wife DOES like (at least one) of my hats!!!!!!!!:rolleyes:;):D:D:D:D:D
