How do folks react to your hat wearing?

It's "gun hand" though in a following sentence he did say right hand. Hard to draw that weapon with a hand full of groceries. One of the worst things ever perpetuated upon L E officers is the regulation regarding uniform head wear. There's enough to keep up with w/o worrying about that DAMN hat when you step out of your patrol vehicle.

LOL.

So, to put this thread back on the title topic I have to tell you all about the great security guy at the hospital where I've been visiting my mother. He's about my age, and apparently knows his lids!

After several days of politely nodding to me each time I entered the building, he finally stopped me the other day. "You're going to HAVE to STOP wearing those brims when you come in here now, unless you want me to go back to my thug days, and be /stealing one of 'em!! You got a helluva collection, man!!!"

We became fast friends. He pines for his old collection!

Sounds like a potential convert. Invite him over to the FL.

Sent directly from my mind to yours.

Reminds me.
I’ve been told recently and on more than one occasion to “Stop posting that black Nutria” or “Don’t show me that No.1 again”. Words to that affect, from a member here from Alabama that i will not name. Ha ha
I consider that to be the highest of compliments from someone who knows.
Thanks guy!!

The weather has turned cold and slushy and I am now pretty much wearing a fedora to work every day. My boss is clearly intrigued and falls into the category of someone who obviously wants a nice hat but, for whatever reason, fears that he can’t pull it off. His unending fascination with my hate is like a kid looking at a train set.

On the other hand... the other day a colleague who is straight from SE Asia started giggling when she saw my hat. She said “you look like a... you look like a....”. Then she pulled herself together and finally added “it looks good on you.”
I said “thank you.”

To Marcus D'Hat: until the 1980s or even the 1990s the term fedora was hardly known in the UK except as an Americanism (much like "garbage = rubbish"); this point has been discussed before. For this reason it is hardly surprising that Rocketeer's father always referred to his hat as a trilby.

Last weekend I was walking around in Sacramento, This guy excitedly approaches me and says "Good hat, man, Good hat!" Then gives me a robust handshake!
I thought to myself, That was cool. Made my day!

This is the hat I was wearing, The pic is in a restaurant in downtown Sacramento. The hat is a modern Stetson.

Both look great.
Really? I do not like how the Bolero looks...at least until I get my hat-stretcher next week.

I felt like because the Bolero didn't sit on my head properly (Due to the too small head-hole and crown) I had to steam the brim and angle it down. Not how I originally envisioned the hat when I ordered it. Crazy thing is that I went in to a supposed "Hat shop" and they measured my head and STILL ordered the wrong size hat apparently.
$120 lesson learned...ugh.

Even if you feel like a hat looks terrible on you, wear it with confidence until you get feedback from other people, some peoples eyes are trained to see only the flaws in the mirror, but in order to look good, you have to assure yourself that you're wearing those flaws right, and my friend you were. Although, the hat does need some brim steaming, it looks great.

The only opinion I got on it so far was from the wife...she said I look like a Beyonce Concert Dancer.
Didn't give me the best of feelings towards the hat with it modded the way it is. I originally intended for it to sit flat and straight on my head, but because of the tightness and taper of the crown, I was left no options besides modding the brim.

Most (if not all) shelf hats have taper on the crown (lets exclude top hats on this). You need a custom hatter with a strait sided block. A telescope crown crease can hide the taper a bit, but it's still there.

Hmmm...I did not know that.
Looks like getting one custom made is my only real option...

Unless that hat is squashing your head, it looks like it fits you fine.
