Back when Michael Jackson died, I was looking up stuff about him and found a Google link about someone doing research about this fedoras. That link brought me here.
I was looking at hairstyles and came accross an article on how to do 50's hairstyles, that article had links on it which led me to The Fedora Lounge. I wish id known about this place sooner!
Somehow, I found this site through internet searching. I also found Art Fawcett and he is currently making me a fedora. This has all happened in less than a week; I'm glad I found Art though.
I found this site through searching the internet to learn about classic men's hats. I bought my first dress fedora to match a new suit for this past Christmas. I knew I liked the look of the fedora, but I didn't know anything about how to find or select one. In fact, one month ago, I didn't even know what a fedora was. Pitiful! This site is a gold mine of information. I look forward to reading it every day. Using what I've learned here, I have never looked better! And my wife thinks so, too. My sincere thanks to everybody in the forum!
Found it on Retro Radar as a link. Don't know how I missed it before, because I've always looked at fedora's online, in addition to many vintage living sites. So glad to be here.
I found the Lounge while doing one of my many searches on conventions for evening formal wear, on the finger points that I couldn't get from the Black Tie Guide (very respectable guide, by the way).
This place popped up recurrently on other searches such as overcoats, and I must say, I'm glad I found it (I am a new guy, too).
I stumbled across the lounge trying to find the specifics of hat-tie-jacket matching rules that I was starting to forget. (This was before a business meeting, so I was being extra-careful.) I did find sufficient info to put together a decent combination, considering my meager arsenal of formal duds. And of course, I found a forum full of kindred spirits in all things classy.
I, under my previous moniker 'millbrookmusic' (which I ditched cos I hated it), was doing research on the 1920's for my silent student film (see in the FL Film Festival sticky if you're interested in seeing it) in 2007. I ended up in here and've decided to stay
Google search for peacoat info. I have a modern Sterling Wear one and wanted to learn more.
I spend most time in Hats forum and have started to pay the financial penalty for doing so
Discovering the lounge was really a side effect of my quest to acquire a genuine Panama hat from a legitimate retailer in Vancouver, Canada. I'm still searching for the Panama in question, but I'm hoping some of the friendly chaps on this forum can point me in the right direction.
Picked up a few vintage leather jackets and wanted to know a few things about them. Now I know more than I probably could have ever imagined--about all kinds of things vintage.
My husband told me about it. He believes he found it looking for men's fashion. (Probably vintage suits). He liked it, and told me and then encouraged me to get an account.
I was researching Fedoras because In wanted a good low priced indy hat. When I saw the name of this lounge in the google search I had to stop in and check it out. What an awesome resource this place is! I only own a Christys Adventurer right now,(and a really old henschel safari) but because of all the info I have been able to soak up from the knowledgable folks in here I'll be going for the Stetson Nostalgia next.
