Hi all,

Bounce this thread if it's a repeat or not appropriate, but I did a quick search and didn't see anything, so here goes...

You've heard about the Lexington, Saratoga, Enterprise, Hornet, Wasp, right?

How about the Ranger?

Not as big as the other fleet carriers, she was designed in the thirties and the first to be a carrier from the keel up.

I had the chance as a kid to take a tour of the USS Bennington in Long Beach. A girl in our class (2nd or 3rd grade) had a father who was stationed on it back in '67-68. I clearly remember the elevators and the roll up doors. This was a WWII Carrier #20 as I remember. She told us the Bennington recovered one of the Space crafts (Gemini ?) and all the saliors trying to pull off souvenirs. I was suprised and excited to read about the Benninton in the book "Fly Boys".
