Marc, I love that Three button Jacket. I am quite pleased with the jacket and has inspired me to seek for other jackets with boler patterns.
Feraud, your jacket has great color.I sure you can wear many combinations with it. That is what I am looking for the most. I like to mix my clothing but I also like to be color coordinated.
Wolfmanjack, The wool/silk combo is great. I have a few sport jackets with that material combination and it is very light and comfortable and wrinkles less as well.

Some may feel that the sleeves are too long and that I should show some shirt but I feel a sport jacket is ok with longer sleeves as it can be worn in concert with a variety of styles and is not ment to be formal.

My wife seems to think that the silk warp tie was too much so I am wearing a solid black wool tie and blue trousers. I am not convinced about this type of shirt collar though.

I think you've got it right there. Duke Ellington's big houndstooths looked good with his solid-color knit ties; Cary Grant wore the same, though sometimes with smooth solid silks. Bugsy Siegel wore his houndstooths with loud '40s ties, but what can you expect from the guy who raised Vegas?

HUMM. Like minds I suppose. I reserve showing cuffs for suits and formal wear. I have always dressed this way. Right or wrong I"m not going to change now.

I was thinking of this jacket when I saw the green Whippet!

My Houndstooth Jacket

My houndstooth jacket I won on eBay has been delivered and enjoyed a trip to the cleaners, so I'm reviving this thread from last week to show everyone.

Douglas, I don't think the check on mine is quite as large as yours. Marc and the other Gents, do I still qualify for the Big 'Tooth Society?

Since, after all, it is a 'Hacking Jacket', I couldn't resist the opportunity to play dress-up with it.

Comments anyone?

DOUG, you're bringing a lump to my throat. I feel proud to have helped provision such a sharp look! :D

One day before it's too warm, I'll dig out my Oxxford alpaca 'tooth and shoot a few shots in it.

Hey Wolfman, do you ride? If not where do you wear those high boots?

I wear them anywhere I can...and yet not be utterly ridiculous. Seriously, I do like to ride a bit, hence the riding breeches and helmet.

Wolfman, That is a terrific look!! You have a most excelent moustache as well.
Where is your horse? I would say your in.

Fletch, I can't say how pleased I am with this jacket. It is much more versatile then I could hope for. Thank you for offering it.

I like the English habit myself - especially since breeches 'n boots used to be the default outfit for any "riding" activity from motorcycles to planes. My equestrian experience is limited to one week at ranch camp at age 9 and listening to stories from my dentist (an avid foxhunter), but I always did have it in the back of my mind to try it again.

Indeed they were once the default outfit for practically any outdoorsmen, including rangers, hunters, soldiers, surveyors and engineers, to name a few. I wish they still were. I find breeches 'n boots very comfortable, with superb freedom of movement, and excellent protection in the brush, mud and snow. What a pity that they are now just 'too much' for anything other than the English hunt.

Thanks, Everyone.

Thanks to all of you for your compliments on my new jacket and my facial embellishments. I've worn a beard and moustaches for forty years, so I’ve had plenty of time to perfect it.

I am very pleased with the jacket. It is perfect for spring and early summer in the North. This is my second wool/silk blend jacket. I really like the soft hand, the drape, and the way it sheds wrinkles.

Seriously Fletch, do you suppose it was the WWII German officers' uniform that led to the demise of boots 'n breeches? No one wanted to look like a Nazi. Indeed it was shortly after WWII that everyone stopped wearing them.

I could've worn someone posted pix of his two-button side-vented jacket, and I posted a reply, but I can't find it now.

I wanted your opinions on these recent acquisitions. (And if that post was deleted, please let me know why -- was it something I said?)

Thanks!
