So how does it look now?
Here's some pics I managed to take today;
It has gotten so much softened now.

I have that very same jacket in the same leather and colour but about 3 years old now, with the Alexander Leathers label. Mine still stands up on its own in the corner when I take it off! It is still as stiff as a board when I put it on but it softens as it warms up.

It is a lovely jacket though

I do think there's a limit to the desirability of a stiff jacket - it shouldn't fight back! Regular wear should see a jacket on its way to being properly broken in within a couple of seasons. I've got a Bootlegger that's gone from stand on its own to flopping over on its side within four months.

I would agree too. I didn't baby this jacket and took all the advice I got from the forum to break in except for showering with it, that was taken care of by Irish weather anyway.
And it started to become soft very quickly for me, now I dont have anything to compare the 100%broken in stage of these type of leather but I'm happy with where it is now after 7-8months.

CXL will always stiffen up in the cold. The oils and waxes stuffed into the hide are responsible for that. If it doesn't do that...your jacket is thirsty and needs a drink. @Asaha, your jacket is a lovely example of why I feel Horweens CXL is without question the most beautiful leather on the planet, hands down, bar none, period, end of story
Sorry for shouting

SB noted thier CXL steerhide is 1.4mm thickness, therefore it is 3.5oz in weight.

I have no prior experience in the weight of a heavy hide jacket, but this one is heavy AF. When I bought, this was the last batch of CXL steer hide they had left and they warned me that it's going to be heavy and I could wait for next batch, which I ignored in all the excitement :).

I love this leather....the pics are gorgeous. Just to make sure my monitor is showing me the correct colors, would you say that this is a rich, chocolatey brown? Or is there a reddish undertone here? I
