I've followed him and them ever since. I actually have a ticket for the Wembley game this year and will go there hoping to see the Patriots get spanked. Well...Manning was backed by those Rockerfellas and kept ginned up on juice from Asian flower seed supplied by horseback through Horween and hand tanned. Carried through Hoosierland by neutered undercover mules. The Packers found out about it..and enlisted several Bears to intercept. After that failure the billionairs and beer barons saw who was russian and who wasn't. They finally bought the man...manned the yachts and Manning left us all floating down sh*t creek without a paddle.

I have been thru the Horween facility. If you ever get a chance for a tour it is well worth your time. If you don't believe in doing things the old ffashioned way with real craftsman, you will change your mind when you see this place. It is like walking into a time warp. Very interesting
place and unfortunately not many left.

I'd love to tour that place. I've got a brother in Mishawaka, IN. Next time I visit him I'll call Horween & see if I can tour the place. Is that how you did it Kenal0...call and get something going?

I fear you're right but if there are 55 points on the day then the ticket will have been worth the £75. Part of me thinks I should be pleased to see a quarter back of his quality in my first ever game.. but actually a bigger part is hoping to see him get shut down! Whatever happens it should be an experience.

@Gambetto: apologies for hijacking your thread like this, but American football is sort of relevant here siince I think I'm right in saying Horween makes the balls!

I've only been inside Wembley one time; saw Dire Straits back in '80 or '81. Terrific band.

Butte has spoken for me well. I wouldn't enjoy my jacket if I knew it had been made by some exploited Chinese factory worker. And this style of leather jacket is hardly a Chines heritage item. Anyway, how could a Chinese factory possibly coordinate the kind of modifications that we jacket obsessives on the forum want?

On the point of superior production in the past, you can definitely argue that it was more of the norm then, before mass, cheap production had spread as far as it has now. It's for this reason I seem to buy only vintage items these days or facsimiles thereof. I just took home a beautiful, heavy, vintage-style fan for this sticky London weather and have ordered a facsimile of the 30s GPO phone. Such things were designed to completely different imperatives from those that prevail now, including longevity and aesthetic appeal, because these were what was demanded.

I'll probably start buying vintage milk soon (perhaps not a good idea).

American football fans in the UK are a good breed of sports fan and i reckon the whole thing will be one big party whatever the weather and whatever happens on the pitch. I believe the plan is for the Rams to come back again the following year which is interesting, maybe they're grooming us Londoners..
