I could not figure out any where else to put this so I went ahead and started a new thread. After seeing those coffin hat stands for western hats , and how much they cost I decided to try and make my own. I still need to stain it but I went ahead and put it together and tried my hand at woodburning while I was at it.
This is meant for my Adventurebilt but since it is away right now my Peters Bros. is doing the modeling! If this is not hideous then I want to do another one to hold a maltese falcon for a bogie hat. :)

What a great idea. Each individual piece is already a converstion starter, then you put them all together nicely. Well done!

Some pictures...

...for the "I made this" thread.

I think V. Betty mentioned that she also had trouble with the hooks on hat racks being too close together.

Well, I fixed that out here at Hundevald. (I think that's Dog Woods in German). Put 'em in my hallway. Real simple design. Black lacquer on yellow pine w/ brass hooks. The width of the wood helps maintain the front of the brim.

South wall. Parallax effect makes front page of "Look" with The Beatles and my Dad look crooked. They're not.

Hey IC the stand looks cool. You know the only thing I could think of that would finish it off? You can get these little battery operated tea lights:

battery%20tea%20light.jpg

If you get the right ones, they flicker (some do, some don't) and because they are just LED, they don't get hot, and they are very safe.

I'm wondering if you couldn't put one of those under the skull. You might need to raise it slightly, but a little piece of wood with a round hole for the tealight should do that.

That way, when the room is dim, the skull would glow, as if illumated by an unseen candle. Might look kinda spooky and cool. :D

That would be a cool idea...but maybe a small whole in the back...that way the tealight would be hidden from view. Just my thoughts. Or would a taser fit in there?:D

Please, God....

Make that a typo.

Radio Shack has a bag of LEDs real cheap the are different colors. The possibilities are endless. The have a skirt at the wire end slightly bigger than the barrel. A bit the size of the "barrel" and some clear, silicone caulk and skinny wire and a AAA battery holder and you can just go nuts.
