Try to have a look at page 3 in this thread. Here Rabbit talks about the classic measurements of homburgs - and mayserwegener shows his impressing collection of homburgs :)

Here is another thread, where Brad shows the differences between the blocks for a derby (bowler) and a standard 20s/30s dress hat

They look nice, and I'm sure they feel nice. I don't like the brim binding, though. It's a standard Whippet'ish 9''' binding - not a traditional homburg binding. The ribbon seems thicker, and it's not stitched with a hidden seam on the upperside of the brim. The ribbon is just bend over the brim edge and sewn through both ribbon edges and the felt in one seam [huh]

So I can't seem to find a regular fur felt Dobb Homburg anywhere!

The only place I see one basically is here http://www.hats-plus.com/p-1245-dobbs-homburg-hat.aspx and it's navy in a size 7.

I am trying to find myself a homburg in black or light grey, in a size 7 3/4. I don't want to purchase a biltmore because I don't like the modern company. I posted an ad in classifieds yesterday with further explanation of what I am looking for. I am in a price range of $175 under but really want to pay closer to 120. Does anyone know a retailer?

Or perhaps someone could respond to my classifieds ad. I don't mind vintage or pre owned, I hope someone can help me out.

I so much appreciate the help!
thank you,
Silas

If you're happy with modern production, there's a Welsh company that still has one Wegener (German) homburg left at half price (£70) in a UK 7 5/8 (US 7 3/4): http://www.tailsclothing.com/hats/homburgs/homburg-hat-grey.html - I bought one a while back and for a modern production hat they're pretty good.
